Mīharo Central Lakes Art Awards and Exhibition opening will be held on Wednesday 25th September 2024 at 5.30pm @ Te Atamira.
Come along to see the piece our tamariki have been working on "Whiria Tuku Iho" learning passed down and weaved together with tautoko of whānau whānui, blending traditional and contemporary methods & materials.
There will also be works from many other local schools and individual, please come along to support all the tamariki within the hāpori and their efforts and learn their stories too.

PANUI NĀ TE HĀ O TĀHUNA
We are pleased to announce the first instalment of our whānau wānanga will be held on Sunday September 8th!

This will be a full day reo wānanga for whānau to come together and learn, helping restore knowledge and use of te reo in our whānau and hāpori. This will be held at Queenstown Memorial Centre. A tamariki programme will be provided to enable mātua to engage in learning.

Kia kakama mai e te whānau, kei mahue koe! Get in quick so you dont miss out!

PANUI: Ko Te Kōhanga Reo o Whakatipu Waimāori tātou!

"Ko te ahurei o te tamaiti ka ārahi i ā tātou mahi"
"Let the uniqueness of the child guide our work"

This whakatauki has been the driving force behind our whānau engaging with Kōhanga Reo over the past 2 years, in the hopes of creating a space in Tāhuna for our tamariki to thrive surrounded in Reo Māori me ōna tikanga. Having a space for whānau and hāpori to stand firm alongside each other sharing and learning together.

Wero: Become Kōhanga Reo
✔️ It was announced at last weekends hui with Te Kōhanga Reo National Trust that we have successfully been chartered :)

Wero: Find a permenant location
✔️ Te Kura o Kāmuriwai Board of Trustees approved the leasing of classrooms for use by Kōhanga Reo

Wero: Become licensed through MoE
🔜 We now pick up this wero with a goal of set up and open for 2025.
Our whānau kōmiti are preparing for the challenge ahead.
Our hāpori are invited to be part of this success.

More info to come, but this is a huge success that needed to be shared with you all.

We acknowledge our whānau past and present for every peice of mahi that has contributed over the decades to help get us this far.
