OneBike of the Week.

This week we have a beautiful carbon Bianchi Oetzi. This would have been a top end race machine in it's day.

The previous owner of this had it for 22 years and was very sad to part with it. But it wasn't getting used so it was donated to OneBike to give it a new lease of life.

OneBike of the Week! Another special one this week. A beautiful GT Talera from 1992. It's a steel frame with very playful geometry making it super fun to ride. It was designed in the US and made in asia. We have put a more modern bar and stem on and a front V-brake for more power!

In the late 80s the New Zealand government lifted import restrictions on foreign made bicycles and parts. There was an influx of cheaper foreign made bikes like this one. This gave consumers more options but effectively destroyed local manufacturing.

OneBike of the Week!

This week we have a classic Specialized Hard Rock. We have upgraded the cantilever brakes to V-brakes for more stopping power, put some more comfortable handlebars on and upgraded the rear derailleur and shifters too. It's not original anymore but its much more capable. Ready to be an amazing commuter on the QT trails.

If you have an old bike lying around that needs a new home then drop it off at the OneBike hub and we will get it fixed up and donated to a new owner.

OneBike of the Week!

We have been a bit slack on the bike of the week recently but we have some beauties coming up to make up for it.

We love a retro rig here but its rare to see a kids retro bike. This Trek 220 is a 24 inch kids bike, probably from the 90s and still going strong. It recently got donated to a very happy kid.

Exciting news for the OneBike hub. We are now open three days per week.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday 11AM - 5PM

If you need help with anything bike related come along and see us. You can use our tools and our staff and volunteers will guide you where needed. We provide a safe and welcoming environment for people to connect, learn new skills and support each other. We are very lucky to have a Portacom onsite just now so you don't even need to work outside if the weather is horrible.

We hope to see you soon.

Volunteer Appreciation Post! To our most dedicated volunteer Bert. He started volunteering with OneBike almost a year ago in May 2025 and has been helping out pretty much every week since then.

Bert is a retired mechanic with a curious mind and loves to take things apart and figure out how they work and to help people. Making him the perfect OneBike volunteer. He enjoys learning new bike maintenance skills and loves getting stuck into a deep bike repair project.

Thank you so much for all your mahi Bert! You have become an integral part of OneBike and we really appreciate you.

If you want to join Bert and help us out, you can sign up on the website; https://onebike.org.nz/volunteer/

The OneBike team are very proud to be able to colaborate with ThreadProjectNZ on their Local Legends series. resulting in these awesome new tees for the OneBike crew.

Thread Project is a business born from a colaboration of creatives in the apparel sector. They provide great quality gear that wears well and make life easier for the printers who are decorating them and anyone selling the gear too. Like easy to read sizes on both sides of the label, simple and brilliant!

The OneBike team and Thread Project designers worked together to create this amazing design. And Thread Project kindly donated us enough tees to kit outmost of our staff and volunteers.

Local screen printers Impact initially told the Thread Project team about the OneBike project and then printed the tees for us aswell. Thank you so much to Impact and Thread Project for this opportunity!

At OneBike we love a good challenge. Some lovely bikes come to us in a pretty sorry state. This lovely Genius road bike looked like it had been living in a lake for several years, sorry for the lack of before photo!

Karl, one of our dedicated regular volunteers fully stripped down, cleaned and rebuilt the bike. Karl is super passionate about classic bikes and took great pleasure in this project. And the result is fabulous. Thank you Karl for this and all your other hard mahi!

Thank you Thread Project for being chosen as your latest local legend!
