The māra is waking up, and there’s much work to be done. Come along and join us for another Spring Working Bee this Saturday!

⏰ Time: 9am - 11am
📍 Location: Oxford St Community Garden (94 Oxford Street, Masterton)

🧺 What to bring: Tasty kai to share for morning tea, some warm clothes and any willing whānau members! We have gardening tools and gloves on-site.

Whether you're a keen gardener or just want to get out amongst the māra, everyone is welcome.

Come along for the kōrero, a cuppa, some mahi and good company as we welcome the arrival of Spring.

Yesterday we had a wonderful visit from the tamariki of Fernridge School - a school that nurtures curiosity!

They got stuck into the garden with weeding, planting flowers and sowing a whole heap of seeds. They also made soup over the fire pit and the most delicious lemonade I have ever tasted! 🍋🔥🥣

Ngā mihi nui, tamariki. You are some of the most polite, respectful and thoughtful tamariki. It was such a pleasure having you in the māra! 🌱✨

Kōanga is 'officially' here! The māra is waking up, with the daffodils and tulips starting to bloom. Come along and join us for our Spring Working Bee this Saturday!

Across August we helped divert an incredible 829.89kgs of food scraps from general waste to composting. 🌱♻️

An idea for the Oxford Street Community Garden

I’d love to get the garden’s support to explore an idea I’ve been working on — building some small geodesic domes within the garden.

The vision is to create growing and sheltered spaces, with climbing plants growing over the structures and, eventually, perhaps even connecting them into a green tunnel.

I’d like this to be a community-built project, using donated or recycled materials and the skills of people in our community.

So I’m looking for anyone who might be able to help with materials, building skills, engineering/design, tools, or simply a pair of hands.

Would you support us exploring the idea?

She’s finally arrived 🙌

The Oxford Street Community Garden now has a greenhouse for a longer growing season, better crop varieties and all those delicious edibles like tomatoes, capsicums and chilli 🌶️ 🥵

Kia ora e te whānau - unfortunately there is a couple of weather watches issued for this weekend showing storms and a lot of rain. For the safety of everyone we will be listening to Te Taiao and postponing our event.

We are working through the details and will confirm the new date asap for everyone.
