Meet Sophie💞 Our Queenstown Crew Leader 🛹🏔️✨

We are so stoked and lucky to have our amazing skate skate sister Sophie Oswald on board to lead the Wellness Riders Wāhine community in Queenstown🙌😍

An all round legend, skater, artist, mum of two adventurous girls, and co-founder of Little Difference, Sophie shares so much of what Wellness Riders is all about including connection, creativity, community, and making the most of life through movement, adventure and time spent outdoors☀️

Together with her husband Pete, Sophie created Little Difference, a purpose-driven business built around her beautiful artwork. Through their 1 Card = 1 Tree initiative, every product sold helps fund the planting and protection of native trees while supporting fair-wage employment🌱

You may also recognise Sophie’s artwork from our very own Wellness Riders merchandise🙌 Sophie designed the awesome graphics in 2024 featured on our kids’ tees, helping bring our vision of fun, inclusive skating communities to life.

Whether she’s teaching her daughters to skate, carving around the pump track, skiing with her fam, creating artwork, or helping restore native forests, Sophie is passionate about building community and inspiring others to give things a go✊

We’re so excited and grateful to have Sophie leading the way in Queenstown and can’t wait to see the friendships, confidence, connection and stoke that grow from wāhine coming together on wheels💛🛹✨

FREE Adaptive Skateboarding Sessions – Snells Beach & Kumeū 💛🛹

Designed specifically for people with disabilities, neurodivergence, and additional support needs, these fun and supportive sessions provide an opportunity to experience skateboarding in a safe, welcoming environment.

Whether it’s your first time stepping on a skateboard or you’re keen to build on existing skills, our adaptive approach allows everyone to participate at their own pace.

✨ Beginner friendly

✨ All equipment provided

✨ Small group sessions

✨ Participants of all ages welcome

✨ Support workers, whānau, family and friends welcome

✨ No previous skateboarding experience required

🛹💛 FREE ADAPTIVE SKATEBOARDING FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES + ADDITIONAL NEEDS 💛🛹

We’re super excited to announce our second FREE Adaptive Skateboarding Session at Circability Hub, Victoria Park after such an awesome first event 🙌

In collaboration with Spectrum Care, Gig Buddies and Auckland Council, these sessions are specially designed to support people with disabilities, additional needs, neurodiversity, anxiety, or anyone who would benefit from a calm, inclusive and encouraging environment to try skateboarding, build confidence and connect with others 💛

✨Join our RIDE FOR WELLNESS movement with free & subsidised community lessons💛

Wellness Riders Inc. is a not-for-profit kaupapa empowering skaters of all backgrounds - with a special focus on supporting youth, wāhine, riders of all ages with disabilities or additional needs, and uplifting those experiencing emotional distress or isolation.

Our supportive coaches and inclusive skate programmes help build resilience, friendships, and offer a fun, healthy alternative to screen time in a world that’s increasingly online and disconnected.

In our sessions, riders learn to push through fears, try new things, fall and get back up - together! No pressure, no judgment - just good vibes, encouragement & movement that heals🫶🏻✨

Term 3 schedule - Hastings Skatepark

🛹After-school skate lessons for tamariki (Tues & Thurs 3.40 - 4.40pm)

🛹Homeschool daytime sessions for flexible learning (Tues & Thurs 2.15 - 3.15pm)

🛹Trick specific progression classes for skaters looking to build skills and confidence (Tues 3.40 - 4.40pm)

🛹Teen hangout sessions & lessons for rangatahi to connect, skate and chill in a safe environment (Thurs 3.40 - 4.40pm)

🛹Women’s skate sessions – inclusive, supportive spaces for wāhine of all ages (Wed 10 - 11am)

🛹Adaptive skateboarding lessons – designed for all ages with physical disabilities, neurodivergence or other additional needs (in partnership with Disability Sport & Recreation HB).

Free trial class - no obligation, just give it a go!
