We work to achieve digital inclusion in communities through partnering on programme delivery and advocacy.

Our vision is for every person in Aotearoa to have the digital capabilities to fully participate in the world. Our five strategic goals are:

- Affordable access to the digital society where every person has the opportunity to use digital devices and services.

- Digital skills for all where every person has basic digital skills to use a computer, the internet and mobile devices to learn, communicate, participate and innovate.

- Digital inclusion
Every person is able to participate in the digital world and that no-one is left behind.

- Digital competence
Every person has confidence to transact and engage safely online in all aspects of their work and living – as well as government, social and cultural activities.

In this special moment, one of our learners shares her appreciation for the kaiako and peers who have supported her learning journey.

Her words remind us that building digital confidence is about more than learning how to use a device. It’s also about creating a welcoming space where people feel comfortable asking questions, learning at their own pace and celebrating one another’s progress.

Today, on World Teachers’ Day, we’re celebrating the incredible facilitators, educators and community champions who make lifelong learning possible. 💛

Our facilitators do much more than teach digital skills. They create welcoming and supportive spaces where learners feel comfortable asking questions, trying something new and growing in confidence at their own pace.

Through their patience, encouragement and dedication, they help people overcome barriers, access new opportunities and participate more confidently in an increasingly digital world.

Their mahi has a lasting impact—not only on individual learners, but also on their whānau and wider communities.

Learning has no age limit.

Today, on International Day of Older Persons, we celebrate the kaumātua and older learners in our communities who continue to embrace the digital world with curiosity, courage and a willingness to learn.

Through Kaumātua Senior Connect, we’ve had the privilege of supporting older New Zealanders to build their digital skills and confidence - whether that’s staying connected with whānau, navigating online services, using devices safely, or simply feeling more confident in an increasingly digital world.

But the learning goes both ways. Our kaumātua bring a lifetime of knowledge, experience and stories into every space, reminding us that digital inclusion isn’t just about technology - it’s about connection, independence and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate.

Today we acknowledge our kaumātua, our learners, our facilitators and everyone who has been part of the Kaumātua Senior Connect journey. ❤️

🤝 Digital inclusion doesn’t happen alone.

Some of the strongest outcomes happen when we work alongside the people and organisations who already know, understand and serve their communities.

Across Aotearoa, our programmes are made possible through partnerships with cultural spaces, schools, libraries, community organisations and local spaces that open their doors, bring people together and help us reach those who can benefit most.

These partnerships are about more than finding a place to deliver a programme. They help create trusted spaces where people feel comfortable to learn, ask questions, build confidence and connect with others.

When we combine local knowledge, strong relationships and a shared commitment to digital inclusion, we can reach further and create impact that lasts beyond the classroom.

📱Our tamariki are growing up in a digital world - and some of their most important learning starts at home.

With the school holidays approaching, many whānau will naturally see a little more screen time. But alongside the games, videos and scrolling, there’s an opportunity to help tamariki build healthy and confident relationships with technology.

That can be as simple as exploring something new together, talking about what’s safe to share online, checking whether information can be trusted, setting healthy boundaries around screen time, or encouraging tamariki to come to an adult when something online doesn’t feel right.

We don’t need to know everything about technology to have these conversations. Learning together is part of building digital confidence too.

The goal isn’t just raising tamariki who know how to use technology - it’s supporting them to use it safely, confidently and with purpose.

Sometimes the biggest wins happen after the learning ends.

It might be sending an email without needing help. Joining a video call with whānau. Applying for a job online. Paying a bill, accessing an online service, or recognising when something doesn’t look quite right.

These moments might seem small, but they represent something much bigger - confidence, independence and connection.

For the learners who take part in our programmes, the skills gained in the classroom are just the beginning. It’s how those skills are used in everyday life that shows the real impact of digital inclusion.

Every new skill. Every moment of confidence. Every barrier overcome.

That’s why this mahi matters. ❤️

Sometimes stepping into someone else’s learning space reminds you exactly why your own mahi matters.

As part of our recent Katoa Connect team wānanga in Tāmaki Makaurau, our team and Board had the opportunity to spend time at Albany Senior High School - a visit that became a real highlight for many of us.

There were strong parallels between the kaupapa we saw at the school and our own mahi at Katoa Connect: creating environments where people feel supported to learn, build confidence and realise their potential.

For one of our team, the visit even “reignited my spark for education” a powerful reminder of the impact that the right environment, guidance and opportunities can have on a learner and their future. 🌱

A big mihi to Albany Senior High School for welcoming our Katoa Connect whānau into your space and sharing your kaupapa with us.

We left inspired, connected and with plenty to reflect on as we continue our mahi alongside communities throughout Aotearoa. 💚

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori is a time to celebrate, learn, kōrero and strengthen the place of te reo Māori in our everyday lives.

Whether you're fluent, just beginning your journey, or somewhere in between, every kupu spoken matters. Start small - greet someone in te reo, learn a new phrase, listen to a waiata, send a message in te reo, or bring more reo into your kāinga, workplace and digital spaces.

The challenge is not just to use te reo during Te Wiki, but to find small ways to carry it with us throughout the year. 🌿

With your food basket and my food basket, the people will thrive.

Recently, our full Katoa Connect team and Board of Trustees came together in Tāmaki Makaurau for a time of whakawhanaungatanga, connection and shared purpose.

While much of our mahi happens across different communities and regions, opportunities like this remind us of the importance of strengthening the relationships within our own whare too.

By bringing together our different perspectives, experiences and strengths, we strengthen our collective ability to serve our communities and move forward with the shared vision of Katoa Connect - a digitally inclusive Aotearoa where everyone can participate, contribute and thrive.
