Huggable Hearts

Huggable Hearts Cuddly fabric hearts for parents who have lost a baby or child. These are made to their birth weight. Our service is free. www.huggablehearts.co.nz.

Huggable Hearts is a free service to parents in New Zealand who have had an angel baby. An angel baby is one that is sadly lost prior to birth or after birth. We produce heart shaped mementos in various materials. These are sewn & filled with rice/polyfill to the weight recorded for the angel baby. If no weight is known we can still provide one for you to the approximate age of your baby. These he

arts will give you something tangible to hold and cuddle once you have said your goodbyes to your angel

Donations are muchly appreciated. Please send us a private message if you would like to donate rice, poly fill or material. We also have a givealittle account for monetary donations

Words from the Internet that may help you today:

"If you’re grieving, I want you to know you don’t have to carry it a certain way. You don’t have to be strong about it. You don’t have to make sense of it or rush yourself through it. Missing someone, or something, is just love continuing to speak.

Be gentle with yourself on the days it feels heavier. Let yourself rest when you need to. Let the memories come and go as they need to. Grief isn’t something you get over — it’s something you learn how to hold with care.

And if today feels especially quiet or tender, please know you’re not alone in it. You’re allowed to move slowly here."

Happy Mother’s Day to every incredible mum, especially to the brave loss mamas who hold their babies in their hearts 💜

A mother’s love doesn’t fade or end. It stretches beyond what we can see, carrying both joy and deep longing. Today, we honour that love, and the strength it takes to walk this path.

Whether your arms are full or your heart holds memories, you are seen, you are valued, and you are deeply cherished 🫂

Holding space for you today and always, and sending gentle love your way 💟

On this International Bereaved Mothers Day, my heart aches with yours,
For the precious children we hold dear, who now reside in distant shores.
My beautiful daughter Amber, your spirit dances free,
Amongst the monarch butterflies, a symbol of eternity.

Hedgehogs, our family emblem, now hold a sacred place,
In the garden of memories, where your laughter still does grace.
I'll always be your mama, though you're beyond my sight,
In every whispered breeze, you're my guiding light.

Through Huggable Hearts, your legacy lives on,
A testament to the love we shared, long after you've gone.
Purple, the color of royalty, now draped in skies above,
Ruby, your birthstone, a symbol of enduring love.

Our totara tree, majestic and strong, grows taller every year,
A reflection of the bond we share, a love that's ever dear.
To all bereaved mothers, whose hearts ache just like mine,
Remember, you'll always be their mama, through every tear and line.

Take time for yourself, be gentle, and be kind,
For in honoring your own heart, healing you will find.
On this day, and every day, let's make memories last,
For our beautiful children, our love will forever cast.

Today is International Bereaved Mother's Day! Sending lots of love and hugs to all the angel mamas out there, and wishing you all a gentle and beautiful day today 🫶.

I started acknowledging this day properly a few years ago and in a way, it is nice to have a special day for me to spend solely with Amber. I use this day to feel honoured that I am her mum too, and follow my own tradition of visiting Amber's tree, getting myself something new and even treating myself to cake and hot chocolate.

I have been lucky to go on to have my rainbow, my beautiful Clara, who I celebrate Mother’s Day with. But with this day always falling a week before that, it will always be one where I do something special, just me and Amber. And for those of you who are mothers but whose beautiful baby is not here with you, I urge you to do this too, as today is your special day for you and your angels 🫂.

Who else is going to take a little time out just for themselves? To reflect and honour the fact that you are a strong and amazing mama? Your beautiful child may not be here with you, but remember: you are and always will be their mama 💜.

For those who may like to take some time out in your own space, Crystal Lee, Holistic Healer, held a special meditation session especially for us in 2022. We would like to share this with you again: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DOlXLb_zsHQ&feature=youtu.be

👉 Feel free to also share your beautiful babies with us in the comments. We would love to know more about them.

"It shows up after the first wave hits.
After the shock wears off.
After the tears finally slow down
and you think maybe — just maybe — you’re finding your way.

That’s when a different kind of grief steps in.
The kind that settles into your days
and stays close
whether you want it there or not.

It doesn’t knock you down.
It doesn’t disappear either.
It just sits with you — steady, constant —
a reminder that this pain isn’t something you get past.
It becomes something you live alongside.

It shows up in your body.
Headaches that linger.
Nights where you can’t shut your mind off.
Anxiety that comes out of nowhere.
Feeling scattered.
Restless.
Unable to focus.
Like your whole system is stuck in some half-alert state
because grief has rewired everything.

You can be doing alright,
having a normal day,
and it still creeps in.
A thought.
A memory.
Something that reminds you of the life you had
and the person you lost —
and suddenly you feel it again,
that low-level heaviness that never leaves.

This isn’t the early grief everyone talks about.
This is the grief that shows up later,
when the world thinks you’re better,
when you start to believe you might actually be healing.

You can rebuild yourself.
You can find pieces of joy again.
You can laugh, hope, try —
and still feel that quiet pull inside you
that doesn’t go away just because time has passed.

That’s the slow burn.
Not the breakdowns.
Not the chaos.
Just the ongoing reminder
woven into your days and your body
that this loss changed you.

It doesn’t end.
It becomes part of the grief journey —
the part you learn to live with
as you try to piece together
the life you’re building now."
