There's a new recycling/ e-waste centre in Hamilton, whānau. Details in post.

Hamilton East, meet your new drop-off point. : Hamilton East Community House has opened its Zero Waste Kirikiriroa Community Drop-off Point. It's a place for the resources that can't go in your kerbside recycling.

What you can drop off:

🔋 Batteries | Pūhiko
Yes. Household lithium batteries.
No. Batteries that are damaged, swollen, leaking or hot, or that have an odd smell. You'll need to take these directly to The Resource Recovery Centre on Lincoln Road.

🎧 E-waste | Ipara
Yes. Cords, mobile phones, remotes, tablets, laptops, headphones, iPods and MP3 players.
No. Larger items like whiteware and TVs. Lincoln Road can take these.

🧴 Soft plastics | Kirihou ngohengohe
Yes. Clean and dry bread bags, salad and frozen food bags, cereal bags, snack bags, chip packets, courier packs, bubble wrap.
No. Compostable packaging.

👕 Textiles | Papanga
Yes. Clean t-shirts, dresses, skirts, pants, jackets, pyjamas, socks, sheets, pillowcases, towels, curtains, fabric scraps.
No. Clothes still good enough to sell, or rehome.

🫙 Lids | Taupoki
Yes. Plastic lids (1, 2 + 5) and metal lids.

Waimarie: Hamilton East Community House, 53 Wellington Street, Hamilton East.
Drop-off hours: 9-4pm, weekdays.

New Zealand Food Safety is supporting Tip Top Ice Cream Company in its recall of a specific batch of its 6-pack Jelly Tip Ice Cream due to the possible presence of Bacillus cereus.

Jelly Tip Ice Cream 6 Pack (6 x 75mL) with a best-before date of 30-SEP-28 and a time stamp range between 03:00-05:00 L MO6252 is affected by this recall.

The affected products are sold at Woolworths stores in the North Island.

On the 18th June the DIA is putting up all its prices for marriage licence applications, certs etc. If you are considering a quick and simple type wedding, it'd be worth going online and applying for your licence now, to save some money.

I recently married a couple up at Till's Lookout. It was awesome! Other local options (as well as your lounge or backyard!) include the Hamilton Lake, Taitua Arboretum and the river.

Hi all, a few reports over the last day or two of more trailbikers scoping Dinsdale properties. Being vigilant people, it's your hard earned belongings being stolen. Time to check you have taken measures to secure your property. Don't leave them any opportunity to use five finger discount on your stuff!

If you’re looking for feijoas, we’ve got plenty!

Most days we have crates full here at the Centre. If there’s none at reception, just have a wander around Elliott Park, there are nearly 100 feijoa trees, planted by our local children back in 2012.

Awesome to see them now producing and feeding our community. Help yourself!
