There is something different about loving an elderly pet.
You know their habits. Their little routines. The way they look at you. The place they sleep. The sound of their footsteps. You know how much of your life they have quietly been part of.
And when they get sick, it can be frightening very quickly.
For some families, the hardest part is not whether they love their pet enough. It is whether they can afford the treatment, medication or urgent care they suddenly need.
That is where Angels Network tries to help.
We support families facing emergency veterinary costs when there is simply nowhere else to turn. Right now, the need is greater than the funds we have available, and too often we are having to say no when we desperately want to say yes.
If you have ever loved an old dog, you will understand why these final years matter so much.
A small donation can help with pain relief, diagnostics, treatment, medication, or simply give a family one more chance to do the right thing for an animal who has spent years doing nothing but loving them.

💜🐾 PLEASE HELP ZANE FIGHT FOR HIS LIFE 🐾💜

We’re sharing Zane’s story today in the hope that our community can help.

Zane is only 5 years old. Until last week he was a healthy, energetic little Toy Spaniel. Then everything changed very quickly.

After developing a high fever, Zane deteriorated badly and was rushed to emergency care when he became unable to move, his gums turned pale and his heart rate began dropping.

He is now being treated at Wellsford Veterinary, and the vets suspect Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA) — a serious condition where the immune system attacks the body’s own red blood cells.

His mum, Rheychille, is a single parent doing everything she can, but the emergency treatment, hospitalisation and testing costs are becoming more than she can manage alone.

This is where we’re asking for help.

💜🐾 WE WANT TO SAY YES. WE REALLY DO.

Right now, Angels Network NZ is receiving more requests for help than we have seen in a long time.

Dogs needing urgent surgery.
Cats needing treatment.
Families facing vet bills they never expected and simply cannot manage on their own.

And honestly… we are struggling to keep up.

We have already had to turn people away because our fund simply doesn’t have enough in it.

Those are some of the hardest messages to send.

We don’t want to say, “I’m sorry, we can’t help.”

We want to say:

“Yes. We can help with this.”

But we can only do that if people help us refill the fund.

💜 IF YOU’VE EVER LOVED A PET, YOU’LL UNDERSTAND THIS.

When your dog or cat is sick, hurt or in pain, nothing else matters. You just want to help them.

Every day, people reach out to Angels Network NZ because their pet needs urgent veterinary care and they simply don’t have enough money to cover the cost.

Lately, those messages have been coming in at a record rate.

And the hardest part?

We’ve had to say no.

Not because we don’t care.
Not because the pet doesn’t deserve help.
But because there simply isn’t enough money in the fund.

We would LOVE to be able to say yes again.

Shadow is 7 months old and full of life! Her and her sister Mittens are two peas in a pod they’re inseparable. Shadow and mittens are both rescue cats that we couldn’t resist helping, they’re the type to be by your side and follow every step you make, where ever shadow is you’ll find her sister too.

Shadow tragically got hit by a car on monday night, we found her in severe pain, her back legs were limp and her tail wasn’t moving, we rushed her to the vets within a couple hours we were told she has fractures in her pelvis, a pulled tail and no feeling in her bladder or bowels, there’s also the risk of having to amputate her tail. This was devastating to find out especially because she’s still so young.

Tuesday morning we had an update that she wasn’t doing well, we went into the vet to talk to the team about what this may mean for shadow we could see the pain in her eyes and the discomfort she was feeling. We were then told we should potentially make the hard decision of putting her down, our hearts were absolutely broken we prepared ourselves for the worst and said our goodbyes.

Wednesday morning we had another phone call that shadow was doing so much better! She was eating, moving around, using her back legs, drinking and even grooming herself which was huge! We decided that putting her down was the wrong thing to do, she now has a chance at fighting for her life back! We went into the vet for a meeting to discuss how shadows life could change, I started learning how to empty/Feel her bladder so I could take care of her in the best way possible.

Thursday morning the call got even better where they now believe shadow is ready to come home and carry on her treatment at home as well! I am learning how to empty shadows bladder and the signs I should look out for, there is a chance for shadow to heal and be her normal self again. We are so grateful for all the help shadow has had, bringing her home is all we could ask for, we are beyond blessed with all the love and support.
