A beautiful celebration of 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲, 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 as Auckland came together to mark India’s 80th Independence Day. 🇮🇳❤️

Organised by the 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝘂𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝘂𝘅𝗼𝗻, 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗠𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹, 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶 𝗷𝗶, 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮, alongside community leaders and distinguished guests.

🌟 𝗔 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗕𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘆𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗷 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘃𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗵𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲!

Their energy, confidence and enthusiasm lit up the stage and won the hearts of the audience. ❤️👏 They reminded us once again that 𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴!

The many cultural performances throughout the celebration beautifully showcased the richness and diversity of India and reflected what can be achieved when our diaspora organisations come together with a shared sense of community.

🙏 A heartfelt thank you to all the dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, the Auckland Indian Association MGC for providing the venue and delicious food, and every performer who contributed to making the celebration so memorable.

स्वतंत्रता दिवस की हार्दिक शुभकामनाएँ! 🇮🇳

Today at Bal Vikas, we celebrated India’s Independence Day with lots of pride, happiness and excitement!

Over the past few weeks, the children have been learning about the history of India, and it was lovely to see them bring that learning to life today. They came dressed in beautiful Indian cultural attire and proudly sang both the Indian and New Zealand National Anthems 🇮🇳🇳🇿

A special thank you to Jeet ji and Roopa ji for joining us and encouraging our children to feel proud of their culture and heritage. The children also sang patriotic songs, including Ae Watan, which made the celebration even more special 🎶

We also had a prize-giving ceremony for the children who participated in our Generations in Play and Matariki events.

And of course, no celebration is complete without some dancing, fun and food! The children enjoyed dancing together and finished the morning with cheese pizza, laddoos and bananas.

Celebrations like these are so important for our children. They give them an opportunity to learn where they come from, celebrate their heritage and build a strong sense of belonging.
