AHE’s Ministry of Education Forum 2026

Join us for a very special evening with Julie Spedding (Senior Adviser ECP) from the Ministry of Education.

Each year AHE hosts an evening with the Ministry of Education (MOE). This is a chance for parents to find out how to homeschool their children legally and the best ways to achieve this. There will also be an opportunity to ask those tricky questions.

Points that will be discussed:

– Homeschooling from the Ministry’s Perspective.
– The Exemption Form.
– Advice and tips for a successful application for exemption from school.

AHE Not-Back-To-School Picnic is almost here!!!! A day of fun summer activities is coming your way, and this is one day you don't want to miss.

Auckland Home Educators Inc has been holding this annual get together since the year 2000 when it was originally the "Not Going Back To School!" Day. It's always held in early February/March and is now Auckland's largest home-school get-together, drawing together families from across the Greater Auckland region and beyond. Largely in the form of a BYO picnic, a programme of activities for all ages has been incorporated over recent years.

Our committee will have a table in a designated area where people can come meet and chat with us. As this is a public park space, families may choose to bring your own picnic and utilise the space. Should you do so, please find below the guidance outlined at:

The area contains One Tree Hill Domain and Cornwall Park, which are next to each other, and often seen as one. There is a playground including a train track for little ones and a skate bowl close to the entrance off Manukau Road.
