Meet Dean!

For years, Dean from Delish Cupcakes has been dropping by Ronald McDonald Domain House three times a week with beautifully decorated cupcakes left over from his shop. Unicorns, Cookie Monsters, mini cupcakes for our littlest guests, and dairy-free and gluten-free options so every family can join in. Nobody gets left out.

These cupcakes are so much more than a sweet treat. They've helped start conversations with parents in their hardest moments. They've marked the end of chemo for a brave teenager. They've comforted a little girl who couldn't cuddle her mum for the night and needed something to smile about.

Dean, thank you for thinking of our families week after week. It means more than you know ❤️

And if you're ever after a cupcake for a birthday or even just a midday treat for yourself, we highly recommend! We're lucky to have so many generous local businesses who help power our House 🧁

🎉 That’s a wrap on McHappy Season 2026! 🎉

Together, Aotearoa has raised an incredible $469,215 for Ronald McDonald House Charities NZ - enough to help provide more than 2,000 nights of accommodation for families staying close to their child in hospital 💛

From every McHappy Cookie and Big Mac, to every round-up, donation and fundraising effort, thank you for showing up for families when they need it most.

A huge thank you to McDonald's their franchisees, managers and crew, and our incredible communities for making McHappy Season so successful.

Last week, we asked our Auckland community to help stock our pantry. And the response was amazing!🥫🎉

A massive thank you to the University of Auckland - Waipapa Taumata Rau's Science Ambassador Programme for their generosity. Through their 'Can For Can' event, UOA students swapped a non-perishable can for an energy drink, and together they donated 84 cans to Ronald McDonald Domain House.

The Science Ambassador Programme empowers UOA science students to lead with integrity, serve with purpose, and inspire others, all while building a strong sense of belonging and whānau across the Faculty of Science community. 'Can For Can' is that spirit in action, turning everyday generosity into real support for families who need it most.

These donations go directly to families staying with us while their children receive medical care. Every can makes a difference, and we're so grateful for your support.

To everyone who donated a can, we couldn't provide the support we do without you. This is what we mean when we say we are powered by generosity! ❤️🚀

When Keisha Timms-Waihirere arrived at our Christchurch House with her partner Ethan and daughter Ava Rose, their family was navigating a journey no parent expects. Their newest addition, baby Amea Daphne, had arrived early at just 27 weeks and 6 days.

During an incredibly uncertain time, having a warm place to stay close to the hospital meant Ethan and Ava Rose could focus on what mattered most: being together and being there for Amea Daphne and Keisha ❤️

At Ronald McDonald House Charities, we provide more than a place to stay. We give families a home away from home. Somewhere to retreat after a long day on the ward, share a meal, work remotely if needed and, most importantly, be together. From fresh sheets and home-cooked dinners to practical and emotional support, we take care of the everyday things so families can focus on what matters most: their child.

Last August, Jess and Tyson's worlds changed when their three-year-old daughter, Kaiya, was diagnosed with cancer. Since then, Kaiya has endured chemotherapy, surgery, two bone marrow transplants, radiation and immunotherapy - a long and incredibly challenging treatment journey.
“It’s not been an easy ride for Kaiya,” Mum Jess explains, “she had many issues arise while receiving treatment, which prolonged her recovery.”

Living more than two hours from the hospital, RMHC NZ has helped keep the whole family together throughout Kaiya’s treatment. “For us, the most important thing about staying at the House was that our family was able to all be together and close to Kaiya.”

When a child is in hospital, everyday things like preparing meals shouldn't be another worry for families. The shared kitchens in our Auckland Houses help families create simple, comforting meals while their child receives medical treatment. We're looking for donations of pantry staples to help keep our shelves stocked and our families supported.

We're currently seeking:
