Late last month, Les Clefs d’Or New Zealand gathered at the InterContinental Wellington Hotel to host the Opening Reception for the 32nd Annual General Meeting.

Active members, honorary and retired members, loyal society partners, and professional affiliates were warmly joined by local operators and restaurateurs. We were also honoured to welcome Les Clefs d’Or International President James Ridenour, along with our Australian colleagues from Sydney and Melbourne. In addition, we were delighted by the presence of former InterContinental Wellington General Managers David Shackleton and Scott Hamilton, as well as current General Manager Adam Haywood.

The evening reflected the essence of Les Clefs d’Or, unity, professionalism, and friendship across borders. Guests were warmly welcomed with speeches from Jason Eade, Chief Concierge at InterContinental Wellington, as well as Adam Haywood, General Manager, and Gustavo Co**ha, President of Les Clefs d’Or New Zealand, provided a brief reflection on the past twelve months and expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to delivering a memorable weekend.

Attendees also enjoyed a beautifully curated selection of food catering to all tastes, offering the perfect opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces while welcoming new ones into the network.

The sense of pride in the association and anticipation for the AGM ahead created an inspiring start to the gathering.

Dear Colleagues & Friends,

On May 31st, our Education Day continued with a memorable exploration of Wellington. A special thank you to Nathan Clear, Managing Director of Wanderlust Wellington, for hosting and personally guiding our members through New Zealand’s vibrant capital city. His passion, extensive knowledge, and engaging storytelling brought Wellington to life in a way that was both insightful and inspiring.

As we travelled along the stunning Wellington Harbour, members enjoyed breathtaking coastal views, rolling green hills, and a vibrant waterfront that perfectly reflects the relaxed yet creative spirit of the city. Nathan shared fascinating insights into Wellington’s internationally acclaimed film industry, often referred to as the “Hollywood of the South,” highlighting its contribution to major global productions and the creative talent that continues to shape the city's reputation on the world stage.

Thank you also goes to our member, Phil Shearer, Chief Concierge at the Rydges Wellington, for making his hotel our home throughout the weekend.

Our 32nd AGM provided a wonderful opportunity to strengthen friendships, expand professional networks, learn from one another, and celebrate the camaraderie and spirit that make Les Clefs d’Or so special. Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Following our 2026 Annual General Meeting, members, spouses, valued partners, and key Wellington operators enjoyed a wonderful dining experience at GPO Restaurant, paying homage to Wellington’s iconic General Post Office.

Our sincere thanks go to Executive Head Chef Carl Maunder and his team for creating a special menu for the evening. The menu was thoughtfully designed and catered perfectly to the diverse needs of our guests. Furthermore, the service was flawless, attentive, and delivered with genuine hospitality throughout the evening.

The event provided a perfect opportunity for members to reconnect, celebrate another successful meeting and strengthen the spirit of friendship and camaraderie that defines Les Clefs d’Or.

Dear Colleagues & Friends,

On Saturday, 30 May, members of Les Clefs d’Or New Zealand gathered at the InterContinental Wellington for the 32nd Annual General Meeting. This occasion marked a significant milestone, as it was the first time in eleven years that the AGM had been held in New Zealand’s capital city.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our Wellington members, Mr Jason Eade and Mr Phil Shearer, as well as to the Organising Committee, for their time, commitment, and for delivering a successful and memorable event.

We were also honoured to welcome Mr James Ridenour, UICH President of Les Clefs d’Or, along with our Australian colleagues, Mr Peter Brown and Mr Quintin McLeod, who continue to strengthen the spirit of brotherhood between our two sections.

Throughout the AGM, members received and reviewed comprehensive reports from the Executive Committee and Sub-Committee. Regional updates from Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Queenstown, highlighting achievements, initiatives, and developments from across the country.

Members also shared valuable insights and experiences from the 70th UICH International Congress, recently held in Sydney, Australia. Discussions focused on upcoming international events, the 71st UICH International Congress in Bangkok, Thailand, scheduled for April 2027, and the 14th UICH Asian Congress in Phu Quoc, Vietnam, later in the year.

Additional presentations included updates from Les Clefs d’Or Australia, progress on the development of our new website, a review of Concierge Tourist Expo 2025, and an update on our Professional Affiliate Programme. Members also discussed future regional bi-monthly video calls meetings, and a few of initiatives designed to strengthen our association and support the continued growth of Les Clefs d’Or New Zealand.

Beyond the formal proceedings, the Annual General Meeting provided an excellent opportunity for members to reconnect, exchange ideas, and further foster the spirit of friendship, collaboration, and professional excellence that defines our beloved organisation.
