Across the Pacific, strong integrity systems depend on strong people. Public institutions are made up of individuals whose leadership, judgement and commitment to acting with integrity help strengthen accountability, transparency and good governance.

For many future leaders, opportunities for growth come while balancing career aspirations with family and community. Leadership journeys rarely begin when everything feels certain.

Join us for the next in our series of integrity webinars, hosted by The Audit Office, New Zealand 🇳🇿, where we will reveal the details of a new Leadership Scholarship and hear stories from a variety of leaders including the former Controller and Auditor-General of New Zealand, John Ryan, and auditors from the Vanuatu National Audit Office 🇻🇺 and the Office of the Pohnpei Public Auditor in the Federated States of Micronesia 🇫🇲.

Because the Department of Veterans Affairs "does not reimburse travel between [the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands and Palau] and the United States, veterans shoulder the full cost of airfare—typically more than $1,000 round‑trip—just to access basic services." – from article on recent audit report by SAI USA:

Veterans from the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands and Palau continue to face steep barriers to accessing Department of Veterans Affairs health care, despite long‑standing promises made under the Compacts of Free Association, according to the Government Accountability Office.

We're putting the spotlight on one our program directors whose last day with us is, sadly, today. 😭
On secondment from SAI Australia 🇦🇺, Meegan brought more than 15 years of audit experience with her to become responsible for our performance audit and stakeholder management programs. Her portfolio of SAIs includes Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and Palau. For the 6 years before joining the Secretariat earlier this year, she was an Advisor to the PNG Office of the Auditor-General 🇵🇬.
Meegan, we've loved having you in our team and know we'll see plenty more of you in the future! Enjoy this little photo compilation of the last few years.

Because this year's Day theme is 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 we thought we'd show you our office's non-auditors! You can think of Luke, Johlie, Danial, Sarnesh and Karen as 'audit enablers' who are proud to support the work of government audit offices ( ) in the Pacific and the Secretariat's own auditors.

🤖 In our latest blog post, our Deputy Chief Executive, Mike Scott, reflects on AI's current and potential uses among auditors, from breaking down language barriers and enabling collaboration, to analysing huge volumes of information and creating new possibilities for audit planning, analysis and reporting. SAIs also have an important role in promoting transparency, accountability and responsible use of AI in the public sector:
