Update.

I have had a lot of direct messages all from locals that see this poor girl just wandering the streets for month.

I think it’s time to see if someone would like to adopt this sweet girl.

Who would love this utterly divine loving rolly polly of a girl.

I think she needs to have her diet controlled for a while. Like me 🤣

Evening Onehunga community

We have this gorgeous girl in our care. She’s Been hanging around a property in Edmonton street in Onehunga and a resident was concerned for her as she looked heavily pregnant. She did not have a microchip
And so was taken for a desex but she has been desexed

She is overweight so must be someone’s pet. The resident on Edmonton street has tried several posts to see if she lost

This cat is extremely affection

“Hi karen, she came straight out of the box, wanting pats n cuddles, I put food n water down, had a lick n sniff then went exploring, she could smell bouffe, so was busy overlaying her scent,😊she’s finished the chef, had a drink and used her toilet, now she’s curled up on my seat at the table, love her!! “

Well Sylvie and I are on the ferry. I’m taking her to Waiheke to her new home.
She is so intrigued with all that is going on around her. Not at all scared

Sylvie is going to be absolutely spoilt rotten. Her new mumma has been out shopping for her.

Adoption update
Trapper has been adopted. And to such an amazing home 🏠 n Te Aroha. Trapper will heal the heart of a lovely retired man who suffered a brain injury falling from a ladder. His beloved cat Sammie died and broke his heart.

Trapper and I will head down Monday morning.

Morning awesome community
Liz and I have been trapping large domestic colonies over the last month trying to get ahead of kitten season and along with this comes many heartaches and many highlights.

When you do big scale trapping we trap very sick cats and Cateens which need intensive medical help or in a few cases to be helped over the rainbow and that kills us but we console ourselves that their death was quick and painless.

But the highlights still come tinged with anxiety and that is trapping friendlies.

Trapper John was trapped last week and did not want to get out of the carrier to go back. Eventually he walked out but guess what ?

Yep!!!!!
He was back in our trap the following night. 🫣🫣🫣🫣. So our rule is if they go in a second time and are friendly they don’t go back.

Trapper John or TJ is a stray. A stray since kittenhood says the feeder and she said he was not social. 🫣🫣🫣🫣

How wrong is she.
He was scared.
Scared all the time because there are some exceedingly large and very quite unsocial tom cats there.

My heart melts with him. He just cannot get enough love. He chats to us the whole time we are cleaning and feeding our tnrs.

Taking photos of him is a nightmare because he keeps smooching my phone out of my hands.

So who would love to meet this utter honey of a cat. I’d say he really needs to be an only cat because he was scared of the bigger cats. I’d like him to live somewhere and never be scared again

Evening community

Awhi mai has a dilemma. We need a space short term to hold our Rescues after their desex operation for recovery. Because we desex large numbers a month we need an area of at least 6mx 3 metres

Ideally it would a cabin type situation but an empty garage with power and 24/7 access would suffice as we have lost our large space due to business sale.

Our preferred location would be Onehunga to Mangere.

Any suggestions people ?

Adoption update.

Sylvie has been adopted.

Offers of wonderful homes came as far away as Waiwarapa to Otago

Sylvie is going to Waiheke to live with a wonderful retired couple. She will be an only child and thoroughly ruined

I just thank the universe every Minute of the day for the exceptional People who respond to our pleas for help Within hours.

We prevent a lot of suffering for a tiny organisation like ours because of the calibre of all our followers 😻😻😻😻
I can’t wait until I see Sylvie smile again.

These are the situations that get me because no one’s to blame really

7 year old Sylvie had lived with her beloved mum and dad her whole life

6 months ago everything she knew and loved has disappeared. Her mum had Alzheimer and her dad cared for them both. Out of the blue 6 months ago dad had a massive stroke. Both have now gone into care.

Their grandson lived in the house with borders to try and pay the mortgage. That’s another story. Just as sad.

The grandson cared for Sylvie but has intellectual challenges and the boarders weren’t interested in her.

Sylvie started spending more time living outside mourning her mum and dad. Confused at strangers taking the place where her loved ones once were. The arm chair her and dad sat on every night had a gamer who sat in it 24/7. Not her dad.

Fast forward six months the house was sold at mortgage sale two weeks ago. Grandson and borders have gone.
Sylvie hasn’t.
She had nowhere to go.
Heartbreaking.

A beautiful neighbour across the road started feeding her but became increasingly concerned as renovations are beginning at Sylvie’s house. She managed to track Awhi Mai Cat Rescue through a friend who we once helped.

So what could we do ?
We had to take her in.

Sylvie is a sweetheart. Despite all she’s been through and the astronomical losses and changes in her life she still purrs and loves to stroked.

I feel Sylvie needs to be an only pet in
A quiet, stable home with retired or semi retired people.

If you have a Sylvie shaped hole in your heart would you give this middle aged sweetie a home ?
