A member of public has reached out as their cat has been missing from Corban Road Henderson area since Wednesday morning

He is desexed and chipped.

All Corban road and surrounding areas please check sheds and keep an eye out for Rambo

And Chip campaign while helpful in some respects isn’t in others as they
Charge a $30 top up fee. I’ve been paying this myself personally. As some homes are feeding upwards of 20 community cats not many homes could afford $30x 20
But if we are to reduce the next kitten explosion Awhi Mai does its best tostilll keep
Desexing at these sites.

Living under a deck in and around some thick scaffolding with her 4 little babies and no one in the house fed her. They knew about her and her babies and still no one fed her.

This story is not unusual. I hear it daily but for some reason as soon as I heard about her plight I went immediately to Manukau and set a trap. Traffic is always crippling heading south in the afternoon and just as horrific getting back to Royal Oak.
I got mum within 5 minutes. It took another 10 minutes to get two of the kittens. They were starving. The other two kittens went underground. I stressed all night about the
two remaining kittens out without their mum.
Vulnerable and cold. I asked the occupants to feed the last two kittens. I left the food.

Anxiety took over I was on my way back to
The property at 5.00am the next morning. The food I left was not opened. I was fuming .
I phoned the occupant and gave him a payout. He told me they weren’t around. He couldn’t find them.
Luckily the last two came out and I set a trap. I turned to head to my car and within minutes the slam of the trap rang out. To my shock two kittens were in the trap. One of the babies and another little apricot kitten about 8 weeks old which I didn’t know about 🫣were both in the trap. 😫😫😫😫
Within 15 minutes I got the last little cutie.

My little inner voice was on the money.

Mummy cat is utterly shut down and exhausted. I’ve never seen such a shut down cat. She stayed silent in the trap. She walked into the crate without any eye contact. Not a sound. Blank expression. Defeated. Resigned somehow. She just lies there staring into space. Her babies crawl all around her and she barely moves. I’m wondering if she’s deaf. But vet visit tomorrow.
There was a reason the universe prompted me yesterday. Mummy cat needed help

So when my days are long and stressful emotionally , physically and financially rescues like this remind me why I do

I wish New Zealand would take Denmark’s lead

The reform reflects a growing recognition that animal welfare is a public policy issue in its own right — one that deserves dedicated leadership, accountability and expertise within government.

When responsibility for animal welfare sits within portfolios whose primary role is to support animal-use industries, governments can face competing priorities. By giving animal welfare its own ministerial portfolio, Denmark has strengthened its capacity to ensure animals' interests are properly considered in policy and decision-making.

It's a reform that aligns with growing public expectations that governments take animal welfare seriously and treat it as more than a secondary consideration.

Through our Fair Go for Animals campaign, we are calling for dedicated Ministers for Animal Welfare at the state and federal level to ensure animals have a strong, independent voice at the decision-making table.

My second cuties are 4 ginger babies

They are about 5 months old at a guess. Three males and 1 little girl. I only picked them up on Sunday so they are still a bit skittish but very sweet
No aggression at all.

They were desexed and chipped today.

I have them with me in Royal oak.

Trapping to desex poor homeless cats always brings with it the danger of kittens

My last two sites I trapped 10 kittens 🫣

The first three are two utterly adorable tabby brother and sister and their little jet black Sister who is still very spicy. She has the face of an angel and the hiss and spit of a fire breathing dragon. With love and patience she will be a love bug. I’ve seen this hundreds of times.

We put their age at about 10 weeks old
They are desexed microchipped and ready to go

Meet
Adam and Eve and their sister Puff. Let’s hope she is a magic dragon.
They are with me in Royal oak but will
Be heading to a foster on the weekend.
Adam and Eve are quite chill now but will still need time to decompress in their new home
Puff needs to gain a lot more confidence
