🌺Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa | Samoa Language Week!

This week we celebrate the beauty, strength, and richness of the Samoan language and culture.

Did you know that Samoan is the third most spoken language in Aotearoa New Zealand? What an amazing reminder of the diverse languages and cultures that make up our communities.🇼🇸

At Ashburton Kindergartens, we love celebrating the many languages, cultures, and identities that make our learning communities so special. Every language carries stories, traditions, and connections that enrich us all.

If your aiga (family) uses Samoan words or phrases at home, we would love for you to share them in the comments below. 👇

Fa'afetai tele lava and happy Samoa Language Week! ❤️

For 100 years, kindergartens across Aotearoa have been places of learning, belonging, friendship, and connection 💛

At Ashburton Kindergarten Association, we know kindergarten means something different to everyone - a first friendship, a caring kaiako, messy play, confidence, laughter, or a place to belong.

As we celebrate the New Zealand Kindergartens centenary, we would love to know…

📚✨ A very special visit at Aubrey Mason Kindergarten ✨📚

This week we were so lucky to welcome talented local author and Aubrey Mason mum, Mary Blain, to kindy to share her beautiful second children’s book, Explore with Me Mackenzie Country, with our tamariki. 💛

The children loved listening to the story and following the curious kōtare as it explored the stunning Mackenzie Country - an alpine wonderland filled with wide open spaces, golden grasslands, and sparkling starry skies. 🌾⭐

Reading together creates such special moments for children, sparking imagination, curiosity, and a love of adventure. It was wonderful for our tamariki to meet a real-life author and experience the magic of storytelling firsthand.

Thank you so much, Mary, for sharing your time and your beautiful new book with us .

Ka mau te wehi! 📖✨
