June is World Elder Abuse Awareness Month

Elder Abuse Awareness Week (15-22 June) is a time to raise awareness of an issue that affects many older people in our community.

To support this important campaign, information displays have been set up in The Ashburton Arcade and Ashburton Library. Take a moment to visit the displays and find out more about elder abuse, how to recognise the warning signs, and where to get help and support.

This year’s message is simple:

See it. Hear it. Speak up.

If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts. Raising concerns could make a real difference in someone’s life.

We had a wonderful ‘bring and buy’ this week, where members brought along items to share with one another. A porcelain doll was bought by one of our members and named after her mum, it was so lovely to see her really happy and enjoying the doll she had bought.
