A new name, the same heart behind the mahi 💚

We’re excited to share that Alexandra and Districts Youth Trust will now be known as Central Youth Development Trust.

Over the past few years, our organisation has grown well beyond Alexandra, and we're now working alongside rangatahi and whānau across communities throughout the region. This change reflects the wider reach of our mahi, while staying grounded in the values that have always guided us — connection, manaakitanga, support, and showing up consistently for rangatahi 🤩

Over the next few weeks, you’ll start to see changes happening across our signage, social media, and branding as we transition into this next chapter. For now, we’re still contactable through all of our current email addresses and channels, with updated contact details to come soon!

While the look and name may be changing, our commitment to creating safe, supportive spaces for rangatahi remains exactly the same 🙌

From the Board of Trustees and kaimahi of Central Youth Development Trust, thank you to everyone who continues to support, encourage, and walk alongside our rangatahi and our team — we’re excited for what’s ahead ❤️

To wrap up Youth Week, we asked:
“What’s one piece of advice for rangatahi?”

This week has been all about making space for young voices — because rangatahi deserve to be heard, valued, and listened to 💬

Alongside advice from localrangatahi, we’ve also included messages from our kaimahi, board members, and the Mayor 👏

Behind every taiohi is a story, a challenge, a goal, or something to keep them going 🙏

Today we asked our rangatahi: “What matters to you most right now?”

A glimpse into what’s shaping, grounds, and driving our rangatahi today 😎

Day 3 of Youth Week – and we’re getting real

“What’s something adults keep getting wrong about rangatahi?” 🤔

Honest thoughts, strong perspectives, and a reminder that young voices matter 🫶

Youth Week continues! 🤩

Today we asked rangatahi:“If you were Mayor of Central Otago for one day, and could make a change, what would it be?”

This year’s Youth Week theme is all about rangatahi being heard – because their voices matter. 💬

From serious ideas to creative solutions, rangatahi shared what they’d change in our community… and the Tamah Alley- Mayor for Central Otago responded to some of their whakaaro 👀👏

It’s Youth Week! 🎉

This year we’re celebrating by putting the mic in the hands of rangatahi – one question a day, straight from our community.

We’re kicking things off with this year’s theme and asking:
“What’s the best thing about living in Aotearoa?” 🇳🇿✨

From the people, to the places, to the little things that make it home – hear what our young people have to say.

Stay tuned all week as we share their voices, stories, and perspectives. 🎤💬

Breakfast Club is back and better than ever 🥝🍎🥞

Starting next week, in line with Youth Week 2026, we'll be running Breakfast Club from our office AND it's open to all tamariki and rangatahi aged 5-18 🤩

Come through for a relaxed, welcoming start to the day — grab some kai, connect with others, or just hang out for a bit before school

No pressure, no cost — just a warm space and a good way to start the morning right ☕️

Wishing our community a safe, restful break and a great start to the new year ❤️
