Youth Discussion Series | Youth Action for Democracy – Koshi Province

Youth Initiative organized a Youth Discussion Series under the Youth Action for Democracy initiative in Biratnagar, Koshi Province, bringing together 35+
young people from diverse sectors for an interactive dialogue on democracy.

The discussion focused on the current state of democracy, young people’s understanding of democratic values, and their role in strengthening democratic practices. Participants highlighted that democracy is more than elections—it means protecting rights and freedoms, ensuring equality and justice, participating in decision-making, holding leaders accountable, and upholding the rule of law.

The session provided a meaningful platform for youth to share their experiences, express their demands and suggestions, and make their own commitments to practicing and promoting democracy in their communities.

Special thanks to our Youth Initiative- Koshi Province Team, organizational representatives, participants, and dedicated youth volunteers for their valuable contribution and support in making the discussion meaningful and impactful.

On 25 September 2026, Youth Initiative, in partnership with the 臺灣民主基金會 Taiwan Foundation for Democracy and in collaboration with the Nepal SDGs Forum, continued its Youth Discussion Series with a special session on “Youth Action for Democracy: Youth, Democracy & Civic Participation.”

The discussion also explored the role of youth in strengthening democracy, meaningful youth participation, and the ways young people can contribute to democratic development. Participants reflected on the current situation of democracy in Nepal, the democratic development process, and the importance of active and responsible civic engagement.

Young people from diverse groups and backgrounds participated in the discussion, sharing their perspectives, experiences, and ideas on how youth can play a stronger role in Nepal’s democratic journey.

Youth are not only the future of democracy - they are an important part of democracy today.

Youth Action for Democracy | Youth Discussion Series

Today, 22 September 2026, Youth Initiative with the support of the 臺灣民主基金會 Taiwan Foundation for Democracy, successfully conducted the “Youth Action for Democracy” Youth Discussion Series.

More than 55 young people came together to learn, discuss, and exchange ideas on democracy, civic participation, youth leadership, and the role of young people in strengthening democratic values and institutions.

The discussion created a meaningful space for young participants to share their perspectives, raise questions, and explore how youth can contribute to a stronger, more inclusive, and participatory democracy.

Young people are not only the future of democracy they are an essential part of democracy today.

We are grateful to all the young participants for their active engagement, valuable perspectives, and commitment to building a democratic society.

Let’s learn. Let’s participate. Let’s take action for democracy.
