: A thematic panel discussion moderated by Samarendra Behera, Deputy Director- Programs, , explored key aspects of & wellbeing among adolescent girls in Bihar. This is what the speakers outlined:

Dr. Vijeta, State Program Officer, Adolescent Health, , stressed upon the importance of preparing adolescents for the physical and psychological changes they will experience, using accurate information. This preparation is a crucial intervention for their optimal development.

Dr. Mukta Agarwal, HoD, Obs & Gynae, AIIMS, Patna said, “although hormonal changes are physical, they have mental and sociological bearings and they must be overviewed in a holistic manner in order to effectively support adolescent girls to become confident and productive citizens”.

Dr. Ajit Singh, Director, Public Health, Bihar Vidya Peeth, elucidated, “Intervention would streamline convergence among different departments and development partners, thereby complementing efforts for supporting adolescents' education, health, and overall development”.

Speaking at the panel, Ruchi Jha from ORGANON appreciated the energy and enthusiasm among government institutions and development partners towards the project. She underlined that adolescence is a critical window to pursue the foundation of empowerment and equip them with suitable information so their body and mind do not become a barrier for them.

Samarendra Behera noted that the inputs and recommendations from the discussion will benefit the progression of project and pave way for healthy adolescence in the six project districts.

: Experts at the inaugural session echoed the vision of ( &HealthyBihar). They dwelled upon key aspects of the overall wellbeing of adolescent girls in Bihar. Here are the key highlights from the distinguished inaugural panel:

With this quote, Mukesh Sharma, ED, PSI India, emphasised that “the title in itself underscores the vital role of females in our lives, yet we forget that their (HER) life can be only ‘Awesome’ when their future is optimally supported, protected and secured”. And it is this vision, that will be of prime importance to PSI India, he said.

Dr. Vijeta Sinha, SPO, Adolescent Health- , appreciated PSI India for pioneering yet another Bihar-specific intervention, this time aimed at empowering adolescent girls. She assured full support from to make this project, an example for ‘nurturing, physical, mental and social well-being of adolescent girls' and mark real difference in the lives of girls.

: Invoking pious blessings, the lamp lighting formally launched the PSI India led ‘AWESOMM_HER’ project in Patna. The supported initiative, in collaboration with envisions strengthening healthcare access & overall well-being of adolescent girls by integrating nutritional support, sustainable menstrual hygiene solutions, and mental health resilience counselling in five intervention districts of Bihar.
