Feminist Approach to Technology Feminist Approach to Technology is a network of women-led community-based collectives for change.

Feminist Approach to Technology (FAT) has been working with girls and young women from socio-economically disadvantaged and marginalised communities since 2010. We use an innovative approach centred around building leadership using a feminist approach to technology in terms of access to STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education. Our Young Women Leadership Program (YWLP) and Girls in STEM (GiSTEM) program accompanies girls through their transition into confident young women, building 21st century skills needed to kickstart a career of their own choice and/or for taking up a journey as a changemaker.

We are excited to announce that, as FAT has turned 18 this year, we are stepping into a new chapter as a young women-led organisation.🐝

You may have noticed a long silence on our pages. While things looked quiet from the outside, we were taking time to reflect, rethink and build something important within FAT.

This transition has led us to a feminist, participatory BeeHive Structure, built on shared leadership, responsibility and decision-making.

On 1 April 2026, Management Committee Champions Rekha, Rubi and Jyoti began leading this new chapter.

The girls and young women who once joined FAT as programme participants are now leading the organisation and carrying forward our vision.

Our Capacity Building Workshop in Manali brought together our second-year Level 3 participants for an immersive and collaborative learning journey.
Focused on strengthening leadership, communication, and facilitation skills, the workshop prepared them to take their learnings to the field this January.

To understand their own growth and analyse their facilitation skills, participants also conducted open house sessions with our 2025 Level 3 batch — creating a space for real-time practice, reflection, and exchange.

This journey was as much about self-learning as it was about learning from peers, helping each participant deepen their sense of agency, curiosity, and responsibility.

Through the Community Tech Centre and Community Jugaad curriculums, they explored rights, agency, and the power of curiosity in STEM — gearing up to inspire the next generation of adolescent girls.
