1976: A Milestone in Our Journey 💙

In 1976, World Vision India was officially registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Act, 1960, marking an important chapter in its commitment to serving vulnerable children and communities across India.

What began as a vision to create lasting change has grown into a nationwide movement that partners with children, families, communities, and local institutions to address challenges related to education, health, child protection, livelihoods, and community development.

Over the years, the focus has remained unchanged: empowering children to reach their full potential and strengthening communities to create sustainable futures. Every milestone achieved since then reflects the collective efforts of supporters, partners, staff, volunteers, and communities working together toward a common goal.

As we look back on this significant moment, we also look ahead with renewed commitment to building a future where every child can live a life of dignity, opportunity, and hope.

From Hesitation to Confidence 💙

When Sandhya, REC Coordinator for Marungapuri ADP, and her team assessed 323 children, they found that 235 children were performing below expected literacy levels.

Many children were hesitant to speak, lacked confidence, and struggled to read even simple words, sentences, or paragraphs. While some could recognize and spell letters, they needed additional support to develop essential reading skills.

Through the dedication of teachers and the support provided at eight Remedial Education Centres (RECs), a remarkable transformation began to take place. Children who were once shy and fearful are now speaking confidently, reading aloud, and participating actively in learning activities.

These improvements are about more than literacy. They are helping children build self-confidence, develop a love for learning, and strengthen the foundation they need for future success.

Thippamma's story is one of determination, transformation, and purpose. Faced with financial challenges, she dreamed of creating a more secure future for herself and her family. Through World Vision India's RESTI Programme, she gained the opportunity to build sustainable livelihood skills and strengthen her economic independence.

What began as a personal journey to overcome hardship soon became a pathway to empowering others. Using her tailoring skills, Thippamma not only improved her family's well-being but also became a source of encouragement and support for women in her community.
