He came to us as a retired railway hero. He left us as family. 🐾❤️

Sheru, a one-year-old Belgian Malinois, was handed over to Blue Cross of India after retiring from Indian Railways following the recurrence of a tumour on his head.

He had already undergone surgery once, but the tumour returned and continued to grow.

When Sheru came to us, he brought with him something very special — his discipline, obedience and gentle nature. In the months he spent with us, he became much more than a resident at our shelter. He became a part of our everyday lives.

Day by day, our staff grew attached to him. His presence, his quiet strength and his beautiful nature touched everyone who cared for him.

Sadly, today, Sheru lost his battle after complications from his condition.

We are heartbroken to say goodbye to him. But we are grateful that, in his final months, Sheru knew care, kindness and love.

Today, we bid farewell to a brave railway hero — and to a beloved member of our Blue Cross family.

We miss you, Sheru.
Run free, brave boy. 🌈🐾

A meaningful conversation for a more compassionate future.

Blue Cross of India’s General Manager, Mr. Vinod Kumaar, visited Vantara and had the opportunity to meet Shri Anant Ambani during Champions of Care — a national initiative bringing animal-welfare organisations together to strengthen community animal welfare across India.

For organisations working on the ground, collaboration means sharing knowledge, strengthening capabilities and finding sustainable solutions for animals in need.

Together, we can create a stronger network of care — for every animal.
