This little fellow was found near the 6 Cross Roads in Waterford.
Following a visit to Suirside Veterinary Clinic the Rook was deemed fit to travel to Kildare Wildlife Rescue for rehabilitation.
Hopefully he will make a full recovery and be realised back in his natural environment.

This post is borrowed from the UK, but we think it's relevant to Irish Dogs too!!

If you are walking a dog tomorrow or over the next few days - go out in the early morning or late evening when it’s cooler. DO NOT walk a dog during the hottest parts of the day.

Don’t run or cycle with your dog when it’s hot.

DO NOT leave them in the car or tied up in the heat!

Pavements can get very hot! You know the saying, "it's hot enough to fry an egg!" Imagine what that does to your poor dogs' feet! If the ground is too hot to touch with your hand for five seconds, it’s too hot for paws!

β˜€οΈπŸΆ SUNSTROKE IN DOGS CAN BE FATAL πŸΆβ˜€οΈ

As temperatures rise, our pets are at serious risk of heatstroke β€” especially brachycephalic breeds like Bulldogs, Pugs, and Frenchies, as well as older, overweight, or very young dogs.

🚨 Signs of heatstroke include:
β€’ Excessive panting
β€’ Drooling
β€’ Bright red gums
β€’ Weakness or collapse
β€’ Vomiting or diarrhoea
β€’ Confusion or seizures

🌑️ What to do immediately:
βœ… Move your dog to a cool, shaded area
βœ… Offer small amounts of cool water
βœ… Wet them with cool (not ice-cold) water
βœ… Use fans or air circulation
βœ… Contact a vet URGENTLY

❌ Never leave dogs in parked cars β€” even for a few minutes.

πŸ’‘ Prevention tips:
🐾 Walk early morning or late evening
🐾 Always provide shade and fresh water
🐾 Avoid excessive exercise in hot weather
🐾 Check pavement temperature before walks

Heatstroke is an emergency. Early treatment saves lives.

Stay safe and keep your furry friends cool this summer!

Meet "Frankie". On the 17th of April he was found in a terrible state near Clonmel. Malnourished, dehydrated and suffering with mange and flea. He also had a very serious rear leg injury. We arranged urgent treatment for him at Suirside Veterinary Clinic .
With the support of the Tipperary Dog Warden Service we were able to secure Frankie into our care.
