💙 Saturday Night Su***de Prevention Patrol

It’s been a lovely bright autumn day here in Waterford, and hopefully you got the chance to get out and enjoy a little October sunshine. 🍂

As Saturday evening settles in, our volunteers are preparing for tonight’s Su***de Prevention Patrol, covering Waterford’s quays and the River Suir, with patrols continuing into the small hours of Sunday morning.

Sometimes it’s the little things that matter most. A friendly conversation, taking the time to listen or simply being there for someone who’s having a difficult time. We don’t always know what’s going on in another person’s life, but a little kindness and understanding can go a long way. ❤️

There’s still time to apply to join Waterford Marine Search & Rescue.

We’re recruiting volunteers across:
♦️ Search, Rescue & Recovery Operations
♦️ Su***de Prevention Patrols
♦️ First Aid
♦️ Swiftwater & Flood Rescue
♦️ Drone & Sonar Operations

No previous experience is necessary. Full training is provided.

Applicants must be over 18, reasonably fit and willing to dedicate their time to the team.

You don’t need to arrive with years of experience behind you.

WMSAR provides the training volunteers need to take part in Search, Rescue & Recovery Operations safely and effectively.

What matters is being willing to learn, train and work as part of a team.

We’re currently recruiting volunteers who are:

• Over 18 years old
• Reasonably fit
• Willing to dedicate their time to give back to the community

Volunteer roles include:

♦️ Search, Rescue & Recovery Operations
♦️ Su***de Prevention Patrols
♦️ First Aid
♦️ Swiftwater & Flood Rescue
♦️ Drone & Sonar Operations

🚨 Intervention on Patrol 🚨

In the early hours of this morning, our foot patrol team encountered a male attempting to enter the water at Rice Bridge. WMSAR team engaged with the male and after a short time along with the assistance of Waterford Gardaí, the situation was safely resolved. Our lifeboat crew was also on standby at Rice Bridge as a precaution.

💙 Could You See Yourself Volunteering on Our Su***de Prevention Patrols?

Every week, WMSAR volunteers carry out Su***de Prevention Patrols along Waterford’s quays and surrounding areas.

It is a very different side of the organisation to search and rescue, but an equally important one.

Patrol volunteers work as part of a team and are trained to support the work safely and appropriately.

You do not need previous experience to apply. Training is provided, and volunteers build their skills over time.

We’re currently recruiting people who are:
• Over 18 years old
• Reasonably fit
• Willing to dedicate their time to give back to the community

Another beautiful sunny autumn day here in Waterford today, a real treat for the last Saturday of September.

As the night draws in, our volunteers are getting ready for tonight’s Su***de Prevention Patrol, covering Waterford’s quays and surrounding areas and continuing into the small hours of Sunday morning.

The change of season can bring a change of pace too. For some, weekends are full of plans and people; for others, they can feel a little lonely. It’s always worth looking out for the people around us and making time for a chat, a text or a quick call. ❤️

An early start for members of our Search & Rescue team this morning as they made the journey to Lough Ennell in Co.Westmeath to assist with the ongoing multi-agency search for a missing person.

The search has now entered its seventh day, with emergency services and voluntary search and rescue teams coming together from across the country to support the operation.

Our crew will be working alongside the other teams on the water today as the search continues.

Our thoughts are with the missing person’s family and friends, and with everyone involved in the search

We were treated to a lovely sunny September day here in Waterford today, and hopefully plenty of you got the chance to enjoy it.

We’re settling into September now, with the evenings getting shorter and that first real sense of autumn beginning to creep in.

Our volunteers are preparing for tonight’s Su***de Prevention Patrol, covering Waterford’s quays and surrounding areas and continuing into the small hours of Sunday morning.

As routines return after the summer and the pace of life shifts again, it’s worth remembering to check in with the people around you. Sometimes a simple message or a quick call is all it takes to open up a conversation ❤️
