🆘 These Ringbuoys Could Have Been Someone’s Last Chance 🛟

Recently, we’ve seen a significant increase in ringbuoys being removed from their stations or thrown into the river. In some cases, up to four ringbuoys have been missing at the same time.

What many people mightn’t realise is that these ringbuoys are used regularly. You may not always hear about it, but they are often the first piece of equipment used when someone gets into difficulty in the water.

✅ They keep a person afloat until help arrives
✅ They let bystanders help without putting themselves at risk
✅ They can be the difference between life and death

A missing ringbuoy might not seem like a big deal until the moment somebody enters the water and it’s not there.

Please think twice before removing or tampering with a ringbuoy. You could be taking away someone’s last chance.

If you see a ringbuoy missing or damaged, you can report it here: https://watersafety.ie/ringbuoys/

Thank you to everyone who helps keep these lifesaving pieces of equipment where they belong 💙

💙 Need A Temporary Space After The Tycor Fire?

The last week has been incredibly difficult for many people and businesses in Waterford, and we know some are now trying to work out practical next steps while everything settles.

At WMSAR HQ, we have some meeting and communal space that we’re happy to make available where possible to anyone affected who may need it.

We’re a working search & rescue base first and foremost, so availability will depend on operations, but if we can help, we will.

Contact Evan on (087) 757 5005 and we’ll do our best to accommodate you if you need it 💙
