A little update on Louise Roddy’s Mizen to Malin challenge in memory of her brother Ronan Roddy.

Over the past two weeks, there has been incredible support shown for Louise as she prepares to cycle 662km over 5 days in aid of Donegal Down Syndrome Association. We want to sincerely thank everyone who has shared the fundraiser, donated, sent messages of support and helped spread the word.

Louise is training hard ahead of this challenge, putting in the time, commitment and preparation needed for what will be an incredibly demanding journey from Mizen to Malin. This is not an easy challenge, and the support and encouragement she has received so far has meant so much.

Louise is taking on this challenge in memory of Ronan, who was a much loved member of Donegal Down Syndrome and someone who brought so much joy, kindness and positivity to those around him. His memory continues to mean so much to our community.

As the challenge gets closer, we would love people to continue getting behind Louise and supporting her in any way they can. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help support the work of Donegal Down Syndrome Association and the families we support across Donegal.

If you are in a position to donate or share the fundraiser again, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you once again to Louise for choosing Donegal Down Syndrome Association for this very special challenge in Ronan’s memory. We are all behind you every kilometre of the way.

The one and only Sinead! Oh and Eric Roberts of course.

Donegal branch member Sinead Duffy recently had a very special reunion with her former Special Needs Assistant, Eric Roberts. Now a TV presenter and social media star, Eric met with Sinead during his visit to her school as a guest speaker.

Eric and Sinead worked together back when she was in first year. Now, as she takes on her Leaving Certificate Applied, it was a lovely chance for Sinead to catch up with someone who was there at the very start of her school journey! 💜

Confidential Shredding Fundraiser Returns This Friday

Confidential shredding in aid of Donegal Down Syndrome will take place once again on Friday, 29th May at the Letterkenny Shopping Centre in association with United Shredding Company and the Letterkenny Rotary Club.

Members of the public are invited to bring along their confidential documents for secure shredding and watch them being shredded on site in the USL machine, all in return for a donation to Donegal Down Syndrome.

The USL unit will be located on the right-hand side of the car park near the entrance from 10.30am until 12 noon. Members of the Rotary Club will be on hand to assist the public if needed.

This valuable monthly fundraiser, held on the last Friday of every month, raised an incredible €5,750 for Donegal Down Syndrome between September and September last year.

We would once again like to sincerely acknowledge and thank Stephen and all at United Shredding Company, along with the Letterkenny Rotary Club, for their continued commitment and support in running this fantastic community fundraiser each month.

Your continued support is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to seeing you there.

We are incredibly grateful to Louise Roddy, who is taking on the huge challenge of cycling from Mizen to Malin this July, covering 661km over 5 days, in memory of her brother Ronan Roddy while raising funds for Donegal Down Syndrome Association.

Ronan was a much loved member of Donegal Down Syndrome and someone who left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Ronan lived life with kindness, humour and determination, and he gave so much to the people around him through his work, friendships and involvement in the local community.

For over 26 years, Ronan worked in Macs Deli where he became known and loved by so many people.

Many will also remember him from Finn Harps, where he proudly carried out stewarding duties, or from helping out in the chapel and local community events. He was always willing to lend a hand and always had time for people.

Ronan had a great love for art, drama and running, and he threw himself wholeheartedly into everything he did. He had a larger than life personality, a brilliant sense of fun and a smile that people will never forget.

Ronan approached everything with commitment, pride and heart. Louise is now carrying that same spirit with her on this incredible journey from Mizen to Malin.

This is not an easy challenge, and we want to sincerely thank Louise for choosing to support Donegal Down Syndrome in Ronan’s memory. It means so much to us and to the families we support.

We would love people to get behind Louise by sharing her fundraiser and donating if they can. Every contribution and every share will help honour Ronan’s memory and support the work of Donegal Down Syndrome Association.

Thank you, Louise. We will all be cheering you on every kilometre of the way.
