Thirty cigarette butts in just ten minutes, as well as other small plastic litter! 🤯

Thank you to Tramore Eco Group for sharing this vital clean-up effort from one of your members! 🙌

This is a reality of what our volunteers are tackling every single week, cigarette butts are one of the most commonly found items along our shores. 🚬

While they look small, cigarette butts are actually made of plastic filament that take years to break down, leaks toxic chemicals directly into our marine ecosystems and endangers wildlife. 🐬

Quick, everyday clean-ups like this might seem minor, but they add up to a massive impact for our beaches and oceans. 🌊✨

Start 'em young! 🧒 Like Bronagh, Clean Coasts Programme Manager, teaching this child about the 3 Ps.

🚽 Here's how you can teach children about responsible flushing:

✅ Define the 3 Ps clearly - p*e 💧, poo 💩 & paper 🧻 (toilet paper only).
✅ Hang a poster: Place a visual reminder at eye level right next to the toilet.
✅ Run a dissolving test: Drop a piece of toilet paper & a wet wipe into separate cups of water. Stir them to show how toilet paper shreds instantly, while wipes stay whole & clog pipes.
✅ Create a "No" bin: Place a small bin next to the toilet for items like wipes, paper towels & tissues so they have an immediate alternative.

👀Check out this amazing by West Coast Surf Club in Lahinch, Co. Clare supported by Clean Coasts Development Officer for Clare and Galway Ollie O'Flaherty.

It was a win for these young surfers and for the ocean. It looks like these guys had great fun in the process and a little treat at the end.

What a fantastic way to wrap up Clondalkin’s events last week! 💙

Well done to the amazing Friends of the Camac group for hosting a hugely enjoyable Walk and Talk along the River Camac in Clondalkin Park. Our Dublin Development Officer Aisling was thrilled to attend! 🙌

It is wonderful to see the community come together to celebrate local heritage, learn about the river’s history, and connect with nature. 🌊
