What does cooking have to do with sustainability? ๐Ÿณ Well, more than most people realise.

When fats, oils and grease are poured down sinks, they cool and solidify inside pipes. This contributes to sewer blockages and fatbergs that harm wastewater systems and the wider environment โš ๏ธ

Sustainable living is about what we consume, yes, but also what we dispose of and how we dispose of it.

This , let's remember that small kitchen habits have a far greater environmental impact. So, always be sure to ๐Ÿ’ง

Next up in our series we are spotlighting plastic bottles and bottle caps! ๐Ÿ‘€

Plastic bottles and bottle caps are one of the most common litter items found on beaches worldwide, consistently in the top 10 in the International Coastal Cleanup results published by Ocean Conservancy and in the !

An reduction of over 50% in this litter has been noted since the introduction of the Deposit Return Scheme showing its positive impact. However 2026 figures from IBAL show plastic bottle and can litter was found in 19% and 22% respectively of sites surveyed, the highest levels since the Scheme was introduced.

๐Ÿฆ… AMAZING NEWS from the Cahore Little Tern Project!

An incredible 82 nests have already been counted along the beach this year! This is an astounding milestone for these vulnerable little birds.๐Ÿชบ

To give the chicks the absolute best chance at survival:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Wildlife Ranger Padraig teamed up with the NPWS Knocksink Wood Education Centre to install protective netting.
๐Ÿ‘‰ Theyโ€™ve set up shelters to keep the little chicks safe and secure within the fenced zone.

A massive THANK YOU to the dedicated community volunteers who have supported this vital work!. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
