This is September in Ireland.
The month the law hands the countryside over to the guns.

One open season stacks on another. Deer shot where they graze, game birds pulled from the sky, and foxes, who have no closed season here at all, killed the whole year round.

These animals are not intruders. They are living in the only home they have ever known, and the state licenses people to end them in it.

We will not pretend this is normal, and we are asking you not to either.

This is James Briody Piggery in Cavan.
Where thousands of intelligent, feeling pigs are confined in cages. The same dark secret is hidden on intensive farms right across Ireland.
Imagine if this was your life, wouldn't you want someone demanding change on your behalf?

Alongside Animal Rebellion Ireland, we began investigating Ireland’s pig industry in 2024.
These farms chosen were picked randomly, in an effort to give an honest and unbiased insight as to what really happens in Ireland.

đŸ¶ Social Democrats TD, Jennifer Whitmore, will be bringing her ‘Dog Welfare (Amendment) Bill’ to the DĂĄil in the coming months, so we are asking you to write to your TDs and ask them to support the bill! Although not an outright ban, it would be a huge step in the right direction.

👉 You can use a template and list of email addresses from the Social Democrats’ website here: https://www.socialdemocrats.ie/campaigns/dog-welfare-bill/ And we have an edited version below. Please take action today!

📧 “Dear TD,

I am writing to ask you to vote in favour of Deputy Jennifer Whitmore’s Dog Welfare (Amendment) Bill when it comes back to the Dáil for a vote.

Ireland has for far too long been seen as the puppy farm capital of Europe. While the Minister for Agriculture’s recent proposals to amend the Dog Breeding Establishments Act may improve certain standards, there is still no limit on the number of breeding dogs that can be kept in a single licensed Dog Breeding Establishment.

Ultimately, a complete ban on puppy farming is needed, but Deputy Whitmore’s bill would at least strengthen regulations and introduce a cap on the number of dogs permitted in a Dog Breeding Establishment. This is a crucial reform and it is the only way to move Ireland away from industrial-scale breeding and towards an 'adopt, don't shop' mindset which other, more progressive countries are much further along on.

In conclusion, I am asking you to vote in favour of the Dog Welfare (Amendment) Bill when it comes back to the Oireachtas for a vote. This legislation is an opportunity to really improve current legislation for dogs and puppies and to send a clear message that animal welfare must come first.

I would appreciate hearing your views on this matter and whether you intend to support the Bill.

Kind regards,

Name

County”

The majority of Ireland back a ban... do you? 🩊

82% of people support banning fox hunting.
The public has made itself clear, and with your voice behind us, the law can finally catch up.

Thank you for being part of that majority choosing respect over cruelty.

Attendances are plummeting, and figuring out who is paying to go is trickier still.

Did you know that *this* is legal in Ireland? đŸ€Ż
You would think we would have moved past this blatant cruelty, but unfortunately not.

This is why we film. This is why we fight,

Share this post so others can learn the reality of pig farming in Ireland and follow to support our campaigning to end these cruel practices and animal agriculture.
