⭐POSTER SPOTLIGHTS⭐

The standard of posters on display this year was exceptional. They were creative, thoughtful and deeply rooted in occupation‑centred practice. The variety of topics and approaches showcased the breadth of innovation across our profession, and the quality of work presented was a real credit to every OT involved.

And drum roll please... voted for by our delegates... Best Poster Award goes to Ciara O'Neill for her amazing poster and work titled 'Bridging the Distance'- Memory Technology Resource Room West Cork Outreach Clinics. Congratulations Ciara and Charlotte.

2026 Eva Duggan Award: Katie Stack for 'Making Waves', a project which created new pathways to the beach, and the water.

As a legacy to Eva’s commitment and achievements, her family provide this prestigious annual Award intended to honour her memory by acknowledging best practice and research in the area of Paediatric Occupational Therapy in Ireland.

🌊A little bit about Making Waves:
Making Waves is a collaboration between the CDNT Donegal North and Liquid Therapy, a surf therapy charity based on the Wild Atlantic Way. This project grew from a simple but powerful belief: every child deserves access to joy, play and shared family moments. By listening closely to families and responding to what truly matters, this project transforms the beach into a place of possibility rather than limitation.

The video of Making Waves shared at the AOTI Conference Dinner captured the heart of Katie’s work: authentic partnership with families, meaningful participation, and environments designed for inclusion.

Making Waves stands as an inspiring example of occupational therapy, and we are proud to celebrate Katie’s contribution to the profession.

The Ann Beckett Award celebrates Occupational Therapists’ innovative, occupation based and practical interventions that demonstrate the core principles of Occupational Therapy.

🍃A little bit about Grow Your Roots:
Supporting older adults living in City West, this project creates a welcoming garden space where meaningful activity, community connection, and cultural exchange can flourish. By focusing on doing rather than language, it promotes health, purpose, and belonging. The garden is designed to be fully accessible, offering older Ukrainians and local residents a shared place to meet, mix, and enjoy nature together.

Ciara’s work embodies the heart of occupational therapy — meaningful occupation, community connection, and environments that enable people to thrive. Wired for It: Rethinking ADHD from the Inside Out

We kicked off day two of the AOTI Conference 2026 with an honest and humorous keynote from Ethan Lloyd, ADHD advocate.

Ethan’s keynote was a powerful reminder that ADHD is not just a challenge but a strength. Diagnosed at 16 and living with dyspraxia since birth, he’s channelled his neurodivergence into academic success and a top‑performing sales career.

Occupational therapy played a pivotal role in Ethan’s journey, helping him adapt his environments, build practical coping strategies and participate fully in everyday life.

His keynote closed with an open discussion that sparked shared experiences, thoughtful questions on best practices in ADHD‑related OT interventions, and — of course — curiosity about what’s next for Ethan. The sky truly is the limit.
