AOTI is looking forward to working alongside our fellow professional bodies to progress these priorities and continuing our joint advocacy on the vital contribution of .

Today we’re proud to celebrate

A blocked footpath might seem small - but for wheelchair users, people with mobility aids and those with visual impairments it can mean danger, exclusion and a barrier to independence.

Accessibility starts with awareness. Park thoughtfully. Move bins. Keep paths clear. Small actions make a huge difference.

Let’s create environments that work for everyone. ♿

Tomorrow Friday 29 May is Make Way Day 2026. AOTI fully supports this important campaign led by the Disability Federation of Ireland.

Public spaces belong to everyone. Cars parked on footpaths, bicycles illegally parked and bins left on footpaths are some of the obstacles that can stop people with disabilities in their tracks.

Let’s make public spaces accessible for all by removing barriers that prevent people moving around in their communities. Let’s make way for everyone to get around our cities, towns and villages independently and safely.

Play your part by spreading the message. Take pictures of the obstacles you encounter (parked cars on footpaths, bikes chained to railings, sandwich boards and overhanging branches) and post your pictures to social media. Include and tag in your post.
