The Law Society of Ireland has launched a new solicitor apprenticeship programme, allowing people to train in law firms across the country.

Expressions of interest open this September, with the first cohort of apprentices expected to start this time next year 📚

🌟 Are you a Traveller interested in an apprenticeship? 🌟
Looking to build your skills, gain valuable experience and earn while you learn? 👩‍🔧👨‍💻

The Traveller Apprenticeship Incentivisation Programme is here to support Travellers who are starting or completing an apprenticeship. 🎓✨

💶 bursaries of up to €3,000 are available for eligible Traveller apprentices across a range of sectors, including:
🔹 New apprenticeship
🔹 Existing apprenticeship
🔹 Pre-apprenticeship courses

There are also grants of €2,000 for employers who employ Traveller apprentices.

Whether you're interested in engineering, hairdressing, sales, finance, insurance, aircraft mechanics or another career, an apprenticeship could be a great way to get qualified while gaining hands-on experience.

✔️ Travellers currently enrolled in a SOLAS-approved apprenticeship
✔️ Travellers enrolled in a pre-apprenticeship course

Today, ITM Traveller Policy Coordinator Bridget Kelly and TAIP Manager Megan Forrest visited Kilkenny Traveller Community Movement (KTCM), where we were warmly welcomed by Stephanie McDermott and Star Stokes.

It was a really positive and engaging meeting, with great discussion around Traveller employment, apprenticeships, the Traveller Apprenticeship Incentivisation Programme (TAIP), bursaries, work opportunities and supports for Travellers entering and progressing in apprenticeships & employment.

It was wonderful to share ideas, hear about the experiences and needs of the Traveller community, and discuss how we can continue working together to create more opportunities for Travellers in education, training, apprenticeships and employment. 🤝

A special thank you to everyone at KTCM for such a warm welcome today. 💚

We were also delighted to receive a beautiful KTCM Traveller Pride bag, featuring lovely images and symbols celebrating Traveller culture, identity and heritage. A very thoughtful gift that we will treasure! ❤️☘️

The Traveller Apprenticeship Incentivisation Programme will have a stand at the National Diversity & Inclusion Conference 2026, hosted by the Irish Centre for Diversity.

📅 Wednesday 2 September
📍 The Gibson Hotel, Dublin 1

We'll be there throughout the day to meet attendees, share information about our programme and talk about how we're supporting Traveller apprentices into skilled trades and careers.

Through this partnership,ITM Traveller Apprenticeship Incentivisation Programme is helping open real career pathways for members of the Traveller community, as professional drivers, mechanics and apprentices right across the organisation.

Meet Martin McDonagh, sharing his experience of been employed by Bus eireann and apprentice Kieran Martin Collins, in action training in his apprenticeship.we hope to see more Travellers employed and in apprenticeships in the future in bus eireann through our ongoing partnership work with Bus Eireann

Offaly Traveller Movement is accepting applications for our QQI Level 3 Pre-Apprenticeship Programme at The Hazel Hub, Tullamore.

Participants may receive a weekly training allowance and could be eligible for a Pre-Apprenticeship Grant of up to €3,000. Training and progression opportunities may include plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, mechanics, hairdressing, catering, beauty, bar skills, horticulture and more.

TAIP delivers in person or online workshops about our programme, our grant and supports for Travellers in apprenticeships or pre-apprenticeships. One of our team can come to your organisation, centre, youth service, schools or anywhere where we can reach Travellers to tell you all about TAIP. There is no upper age limit for our grant.
