We’re looking forward to welcoming John Quinn as one of our speakers at the Wild Assembly.
John Quinn is Professor in Ornithology at UCC, and has had a lifelong interest in birds and animal behaviour. After studying the Oystercatcher for his BSc Zoology at UCD, he worked for the Irish Wildbird Conservancy on Rockabill Island tern colony in 1989. For six years he then worked for the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust across the UK on a variety of wetland bird conservation projects. In 2000 he completed his PhD at the University of Oxford on red-breasted geese and their relationship with birds of prey in the Russian Arctic. Later at Oxford he worked on bird predation on Scottish estuaries, and on personality and intelligence in the Great Tit. John moved to UCC in 2012, where he teaches and studies the ecology of a range of exciting bird species, with a team of young researchers.
John will be talking about “Bird behaviour and conservation research at UCC”.
