As Ms Diamond Wales, World Ocean Day is a chance to celebrate a lifelong passion for our oceans and the incredible life they support.

The ocean is our beginning. Our life force.

Without healthy oceans, life as we know it would not exist.

🌎 We share this planet; we do not own it.
πŸ’™ We are its caretakers and protectors.

Through my work as Mermaid Tyler, Professional North Wales Mermaid and proud NWSRO Ambassador, I have spent years promoting marine conservation and delivering free marine education to schools, community groups and families.

I firmly believe that learning about our oceans, wildlife and conservation should be a right, not a privilege.

I’m also proud to support wellbeing through creative recycling projects alongside Resource CIC Ruthin, showing how caring for our environment and ourselves can go hand in hand.

This World Ocean Day, let’s all commit to:

As Ms Diamond Wales, I was proud to support attendees through the β€œIs the Mermaid Here?” initiative, providing a safe, welcoming space for anyone who needed it.

One special moment was helping a young girl who had become separated from her family. She came straight to me for help and was quickly reunited with her mum. Moments like these show why safe spaces matter.

The highlight of my day was meeting the very first person I supported when β€œIs the Mermaid Here?” began at Aintree Anime Con. Years ago, they were overwhelmed at their first convention and ready to leave. After some time, support, and encouragement, they stayed, entered the cosplay competition, and won!

Today, I saw a confident, talented cosplayer with their own platform and an incredible personalised TARDIS cosplay. Seeing how far they’ve come reminded me exactly why this initiative matters.
