We were at the Wrexham County Borough Council Forum today to hear the latest on the Wrecsam2029 bid and how it is progressing.

There is a strong focus on community, creativity and local voice at the heart of the bid. Events like Singing Streets are a good example of this in action, bringing people together through music across the city centre.

We’ll share more on how our ward can get involved as further information becomes available.

📣 Join us on Saturday 2 May, from 10.00am–4.20pm, for a celebration of music and community in Wrexham city centre!

Choirs, bands and performers will take centre stage across multiple locations - from Lord Street, Queen’s Square and Tŷ Pawb to Hope Street and St Giles’ Church. There’ll be music around every corner!

Singing Streets is all about local talent, community and creativity - and it’s part of Wrexham’s Year of Wonder and our ongoing bid to become UK City of Culture 2029 , championing local voice and bringing communities together!

Let’s enjoy it together!

The Wrecsam2029 Art Trail is continuing to bring new life to spaces across the area, with more murals appearing for residents to discover.

Recent additions highlight the work of local artists, Wrexham's Heritage, and show how everyday locations can be transformed through creativity.

Keep your eyes peeled for new works as the art trail expands 👀

𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗘 𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗘 𝗙𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 – STILL TIME TO SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS (SURVEY CLOSES TODAY)!

Sesswick Community Council has the opportunity to apply for Pride in Place funding to invest in local improvements.

Sesswick does not have a single focal centre, and many people are not aware of it as a distinct place. This is an opportunity to strengthen our identity and invest in visible improvements across the area.

We are inviting residents to put forward ideas for projects that would improve Sesswick and strengthen our community.
Have your say by 17th April 2026.

• Community assets – upgrades to shared spaces or local facilities

Some initial ideas suggested locally include:
• Measures to reduce speeding
• Waymarkers to show when you enter Sesswick
• A community history board
• Enhancing the centenary stone area into a landscaped feature
• A mural linked to the Wrexham art trail

You can also submit your own ideas.

What will not qualify for funding?

• Ongoing costs (e.g. wages, maintenance, subscriptions)
• Projects on private land or mainly for private benefit
• Repairs that are the responsibility of another organisation
• Events or activities (this fund is for physical improvements)
• Ideas with no clear benefit to the wider community
• Projects that cannot be delivered within the funding timeframe

Final proposals must meet funding rules set by the Pride in Place Impact Fund.

We will review all suggestions alongside the funding criteria and focus on the ideas most likely to be approved.

Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas. 😁
