💚 Walking for Daniel; Talking for All 💚

From Wrexham to Whitley Bay, Susan's incredible challenge has come to an end - and what a journey it has been!

💬 Countless conversations

There was laughter, tears, hugs, sunshine, showers, rainbows and flowers. Along the way, old friends and new friends joined the journey, family offered unwavering support, and one very special dog, Gobaith (Hope) walked beside her, bringing hope every step of the way. 💚

We are incredibly proud to share that Susan not only reached her fundraising target but surpassed it, raising an amazing £3,910 for ABF and PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Su***de! 🎉

To Susan - thank you. Your determination, courage and commitment have inspired so many people and helped shine a light on the importance of talking, listening and supporting one another. The money you have raised with go an incredibly long way towards su***de prevention and for that we couldn’t be more grateful.

To everyone who donated, shared, commented, cheered Susan on and followed her journey - thank you. Your support made this challenge even more special and helped make a real difference.

Day 12 - FINAL DAY! 💚

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻’𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲!

She’ll be walking through Newcastle and finishing in Whitley Bay – the place where Daniel was born – on what would have been his 38th birthday.

To make today even more special, Susan will be joined by her son Robin, Daniel’s brother. Together, they will each walk 19 miles – 38 miles in total – in honour of Daniel and to raise vital funds.

So far, an amazing £2,566 has been raised. To reach the target of £3,800 today, we need to raise another £1,234.

Day 11 done ✅

𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻!

Rain. Cold. Soaked through. Blisters. Shin splints. Mile after mile battling the elements.
And yet she keeps going.

Today, Susan covered an incredible 27 miles on her journey to Whitley Bay, where she will arrive tomorrow on what would have been Daniel's 38th birthday.

Along the way she was joined by good friend Venus, one of the Baton of Hope - Wrexham baton bearers, who lost her brother to su***de. Together they've laughed, sang, danced and pushed through the pain.

They also caught up with Jayne Walsham from Baton of Hope, who lost her daughter to su***de.

Jayne and Susan first met when Susan's daughter carried the The Baton Of Hope in memory of Daniel in 2023. Two mums brought together through unimaginable loss, now both dedicating themselves to raising awareness, breaking stigma and creating hope for others.

As we write this, Susan has raised an incredible £2,372.

Her dream is to reach £3,800 by the time she arrives in Whitley Bay tomorrow - £100 for every year of Daniel's life and a fitting tribute on what would have been his 38th birthday.

Today, we had the pleasure of attending the AVOW Volunteering Awards, celebrating some of the incredible individuals who give their time, energy and compassion to support communities across Wrexham as part of Volunteers' Week.

We were delighted to see one of our volunteers, Paul, recognised at the event and presented with an award by the Mayor of Wrexham. 🎉

A huge thank you to AVOW for shining a light on the dedication and impact of volunteers throughout our county. It was wonderful to see so many deserving individuals acknowledged for the difference they make every day.

We are incredibly grateful for everything Paul contributes to our organisation, alongside the many volunteers who help us support people in our community. Their commitment, kindness and generosity make a real difference, and we are proud to celebrate them all during Volunteers' Week.

Congratulations to everyone who was recognised today, and thank you to every volunteer across Wrexham for the valuable role you play. 💙

Day 11 💚

Today is Susan’s penultimate day of walking and what an incredible journey it’s been already!!

Mile after mile, conversation after conversation, she’s continued to push through the pain, the blisters and the exhaustion to keep raising awareness and funds in Daniel’s memory.

The finish line is getting closer now, but these last couple of days are some of the toughest yet. Susan really needs all the encouragement and support possible to help carry her through.

Day 10 done ✅

Another early start this morning and a long day of walking.

Physically, it’s really tough now. On top of the blisters Susan now has shin splints that are becoming a real concern - and yet she’s still putting one foot in front of the other.

One moment this morning really stayed with Susan. After speaking to a mum whose son had run on ahead, Susan explained why she’s walking. The mum opened her arms for a hug and said, “I worry about my boy.”

These are the conversations that matter. The reason she keeps going, even through the pain and tears. 💚

Final push now towards Friday and towards Susan’s target of £3,800 in memory of what would have been Daniel’s 38th birthday on 5th June.
