Cherish Wrecsam (linked to Wrexham Maelor SCBU) Cherish Wrecsam was established in 1987 by parents and staff to support future parents and premature babies on SCBU at Wrecsam Maelor Hospital.

Thank you 💙 Our aim is to provide help to parents - either when their babies are on SCBU or afterwards. This help can be in the form of financial support to enable parents to visit their babies more easily. We also provide resources to the ward and parents/babies in a wide variety of forms. This is often particularly difficult for parents who have to travel a considerable distance or whose baby may have to be moved to a hospital outside the area for specialist treatment. Equally importantly, we offer the opportunity for parents to talk to a fellow parent who understands what it is like to have a child needing special care. We also pay for the parents accommodation rooms and their recent refurbishment on the unit, allowing parents to stay close to their sick babies. In addition we are able to provide resources for the ward itself, from specialist kangaroo care chairs to presents for the babies as they leave the ward and everything in between!

Captains Paul Wallace Jones and Marian Williams were proud to present a cheque for £2,360 to Cherish Charity in support of the Special Baby Unit at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

This incredible amount was raised thanks to the generosity and support of our members and everyone who contributed throughout the year. Your kindness will help make a real difference to families and babies receiving care at the unit.
