📚🚌 Share books with me!🧸💬

Let your child choose a book and enjoy looking at it together! Reading doesn't always mean reading every word on the page. Talking about the pictures is a great way to build communication skills. 💬

Try commenting on what you can see: 👉 "It's a snake!" 👉 "The bird is flying." 👉 "Wow, what a big elephant!"

These simple conversations help children learn new words, understand sentences, and begin to make sense of stories. They also support attention, listening skills, and a lifelong interest in books. ❤️📚

📚 Sharing books builds imagination, communication and bonding.

Why not make time for a story today and see where your child's imagination takes you?

💙 Dads, Your Support Matters – Caring for Your Partner 💙

Becoming a parent is a team effort, and your role in supporting your partner is just as important as caring for your baby. Here are some ways you can help:
✅ Before Birth
• Be involved in appointments and birth plans.
• Offer emotional support and listen to their concerns.
✅ After a Caesarean Section
• Help with physical tasks like lifting and household chores.
• Encourage rest and recovery — healing takes time.
✅ Supporting Mental Health
• Talk openly and check in regularly.
• Watch for signs of post-natal depression: persistent sadness, withdrawal, or feeling overwhelmed.
• If you notice these signs, encourage seeking professional help — early support makes a big difference.

💡 Tip: Your care and understanding can ease stress and strengthen your bond as a family.

🎉Happy Volunteeriversary to our longest serving volunteer Hannah 🎉

Hannah has been volunteering with the Worksop Family Hub for 10 years this month and is a valued member of the team. She regularly supports the BABES group at Manton Family Hub (what Hannah doesn’t know about Breastfeeding isn’t worth knowing!!), runs the Bassetlaw BABES page and is a qualified Breastfeeding Peer Support trainer, delivering training alongside staff to our new volunteers.

Over the years, Hannah has had several other volunteer roles within the Family Hub and has supported families in the PHEW group, as an EPEC Parent Group Leader and Footsteps Perinatal befriender.

Congratulations Hannah and thank you for your continued support 🩷

If you would like to volunteer at the Family Hub, there are lots of roles available. Please call your local Family Hub and speak to a member of staff for more information:

💷 Help with Childcare Costs.

Childcare can be expensive, but there’s support available to help families manage the cost.

Depending on your circumstances, you may be able to get:
✅ 15 or 30 hours of funded childcare for eligible working parents
✅ Funded early education for 2-year-olds
✅ Tax-free childcare to help pay towards childcare costs
✅ Support through Universal Credit

These options can make a real difference to your family budget – and many parents don’t realise they qualify.
