It provides emergency support to those who have received an approved referral from a recognised, front line professional organisation that is able to support or signpost clients to other support agencies to help them
resolve their crisis. We do not receive any formal funding, rely completely on grant applications, donations from organisations, churches, the general public and fundraising to be able to provide support to the local people of Worksop, Retford and surrounding villages
One of the biggest misconceptions about food banks in general is that they are reserved ONLY for those with chaotic lifestyles. This is untrue. Many of the clients using the service are just ordinary people who have hit hard times. There is no specific ‘profile’ of how a person looks or where they live, who is likely to visit a food bank for support. However, through the regular evaluation of our data, we know that many families in Bassetlaw and surrounding areas are struggling to make ends meet.
