Many patients leave appointments reassured… until the questions hit later.

What do my results actually mean?
How fast is my condition progressing?
What should I change in my daily life?
What happens next?

These questions matter, and they’re often left unasked.

💬 What’s one question you’ve wished you’d asked after an appointment?

Let’s open the conversation, leave it in the comments below.

We're delighted that our volunteer, Pauline, has been confirmed as a nominee for a Bassetlaw Community and Voluntary Service (BCVS) Volunteer Award and has been invited to attend the BCVS Volunteer Awards Ceremony!

Pauline volunteers weekly in the NKF office, providing administrative support and always brings positivity, reliability and a willingness to help - not to mention her showstopping cakes and bakes! 🍰

Pauline’s contribution helps us strengthen our organisational capacity and ultimately helps to continue delivering vital services to the kidney community.
Thank you, Pauline, for everything you do – and good luck at the awards ceremony! 🧡

This Volunteers' Week, the National Kidney Federation would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all the amazing volunteers within Kidney Patient Associations across the UK. 👏

From visiting patients on kidney units, running World Kidney Day stands, organising coffee mornings and social events, providing grants, offering holiday home opportunities, fundraising, and so much more – your support changes lives every day.

Many of you do this alongside busy careers, family commitments, and in some cases while managing kidney disease and treatment yourselves.

Your support ensures that no kidney patient or their family ever has to go through kidney disease alone.

Thank you for everything you do 🧡

Living with dialysis can bring new routines and challenges—especially when it comes to looking after your dialysis access line. This practical and supportive webinar is designed to help you feel more confident managing your line while continuing with your day-to-day activities.

We’ll cover essential tips on keeping your dialysis access line clean and safe, reducing the risk of infection, and handling everyday situations such as washing, dressing, travelling and staying active. "I donated a kidney to my son - now we're representing Scotland on the pitch."

As a child Sam Mckay suffered from chronic kidney disease.

But when he was five years old he had a life-changing kidney transplant, thanks to a donation from his dad, David.

Now a healthy 16-year-old, Sam, from Elderslie in Renfrewshire, is representing Scotland as part of the inaugural Four Nations Transplant Football Championship.
