Immerse yourself in tales of kings and mysterious mounds at Sutton Hoo this weekend, where we've got everything you need for a great day out.

Climb to the top of the viewing tower, try out a sword and shield for size and dress up like a warrior – or a king.

Wander through the woodland and explore our indoor exhibitions to find out more about the mysterious treasures buried deep underground, re-fuel with drinks and snacks on the terrace of King's River CafΓ© or even bring your own picnic.

With an adventure playground and plenty of shade, it's the perfect place to enjoy being together in the great outdoors. 🌳

Did you know that you can enjoy 20% off admission, plus 10% off in the cafe, if you go car-free on your visit to Sutton Hoo? Show a valid train or bus ticket - or even your bike helmet - as part of the Good Journey scheme and enjoy the views and fresh air while cutting carbon.

The 70 bus service, operated by First Buses, travels from Woodbridge and stops just outside the entrance to Sutton Hoo.

You can also get the train to Melton Railway Station, which is just over a mile from Sutton Hoo, and then walk the footpath that runs alongside the B1083.

This spring and summer, you can explore even more of the area around Sutton Hoo by renting out an Eezy Bike.

Up to four fully powered electric bikes can be rented out from our car park, all of which are stored and charged within a secure, solar powered e-bike shelter and are suitable for rugged terrain and roads.

You can book a bike online for Β£30 a day but please bring your own helmet. Cycling is not permitted at National Trust Sutton Hoo, but there are plenty of local routes to explore, including Woodbridge, where you can visit the Sutton Hoo Ship's Company to see the replica ship taking shape, or venture further afield to Rendlesham and Orford.

Theatre in the Forest returns to Sutton Hoo this summer! And this year Red Rose Chain will be performing one of Shakespeare's best-loved comedies - Twelfth Night!

Shipwrecked twins Viola and Sebastian are separated, each assuming that the other is drowned, but when Viola disguises herself as a boy to work for the Count Orsino, a hilarious tale of mistaken identity and misunderstandings unfolds. It's full of romance, revenge and...yellow stockings?!

Performances start on Wednesday 22 July and run until Saturday 22 August and we think it's the perfect night out. Arrive early to enjoy a walk in Sutton Hoo’s beautiful landscape, treat yourself to pre-show refreshments and then settle down for a performance by much-loved theatre company Red Rose Chain as they honour Joanna Carrick. 🩷
