What an incredible day at RDA Woodbridge & District Group we had yesterday! We were honoured to welcome Michael Bishop, Chief Executive of Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) UK, who officially opened our brandnew vaulting barn and spent time meeting our amazing volunteers, riders, and families.

Michael also joined us for a Changing Lives Through Horses session, seeing firsthand how our horses help young people build confidence, resilience, and life skills.

This new vaulting space marks a huge step forward for our Group, opening up exciting, inclusive opportunities for disabled children and young people across our community.

A huge thank you to everyone who made today possible. We’re so proud of what we’re building together at RDA Woodbridge.

🐴💚 Today is the last day of Volunteers Week, so what better time to join our Volunteer team!

Thinking about volunteering? Love being outdoors? Want to meet new people and make a real difference? Come and join our brilliant yard team, just like Tubs, one of our longest‑serving volunteers!

Tubs has been volunteering with us for 15 years, and she’s truly done it all:
✨ Carriage driving
✨ Leading horses
✨ Grooming and tacking up
✨ General yard jobs
✨ And yes… plenty of poo‑picking! (Driving Rosie the tractor is always a highlight!)

What makes her story even better? Tubs says she knew absolutely nothing about horses when she first started.

“You don’t need experience — there’s always a way you can help. I’ve learned so much, met wonderful people, and I love giving something back.”

If you’d like to join a friendly team, learn new skills, and support our participants and horses, we’d love to welcome you.

👉 We’re looking for more volunteers for general yard duties on a Wednesday to Saturday. No experience needed as training will be given.

Head to our website to learn more. If it feels like the right fit, fill in an application form — we’d love to welcome you to the team.

Also let us know in the comments on this sunny Sunday what is your favourite thing about being outdoors 👇

Love being outdoors? Enjoy meeting people? Keen to use your green‑fingered skills to do something good for a local charity?

We’re looking for volunteers to help build and care for our sensory trail — The Ruby Way! From planning and planting to creating sensory stations and keeping the trail looking its best through the seasons, there’s plenty to get stuck into.

Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just love rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands in the soil, we’d love to have you on the team.

👉 Fancy helping us grow something truly special? Get in touch — we’d love to hear from you. Head to our website to learn more. If it sounds like your kind of thing, you can complete an application form — we’d be thrilled to have you join the team.

💚 This Volunteers’ week, we’re shining a light on two of our fundraising superstars, Caroline and Rhonda! ✨

They work tirelessly throughout the year, selling beautiful crafts and handmade bits and pieces at local craft fairs and village events. Their energy, creativity, and commitment help keep our centre thriving and we’re so grateful for everything they do. Here’s what they told us about why they enjoy volunteering with us:

“I enjoy the hours spent engrossed in making the items to sell and the sense of achievement when someone buys something I’ve made. It feels good knowing all money made on our stall helps RDA and to raise awareness of our group. I find that having a stall at fetes and markets is good fun, especially meeting and chatting to a variety of people who come to the stall.”

👉 Fancy joining our friendly fundraising team?

If you enjoy meeting people, organising events, or simply have a brilliant idea to help raise funds and help organise it, we’d love to grow the team!

Visit our website for more information and find our application form.

It costs around £230,000 a year to run RDA Woodbridge, so every single pound truly makes a difference.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our lovely Cooper.
When taking on the responsibility of caring for our equines, we owe it to them to always act in their best interest and with their welfare and quality of life at the centre of our decision making. Cooper, whilst not old, suffered from extensive arthritis throughout his body. After many veterinary treatments and interventions, we had reached the limit of what is possible and it was kinder to let Cooper go.
Cooper has been a much-loved, amazing and versatile member of our equine team here at RDA Woodbridge and District and we know he will be missed by volunteers, participants and staff alike.

Gallop free over the rainbow bridge Cooper, you have been a legend.

💚 Volunteers’ Week Spotlight: Our Carriage Driving Heroes! 🐴

Ever wondered what volunteering with carriage driving looks like? It’s active, outdoors, and incredibly rewarding:

🚲 Cycling alongside the carriage
🤝 Helping participants safely on and off the carriage
🌟 Supporting sessions, helping get the horsegroomed and ready, getting equipment and carriage out.

We’re looking for more friendly faces to join us on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Already carriage drive? Brilliant. Keen to learn? Even better. We also have opportunities for carriage driving coaches in training — help us grow the team so more participants can benefit!

If you enjoy being outdoors, staying active, and making a real difference, this could be the perfect role for you. Full training will be given!

👉 Head to our website to get involved (see LinkTree in our bio)
