Congratulations to all of the Best Practice Award winners. We are proud of our region, Soroptimist International of South Lancashire, who won the Health Best Practice Award with a collaboration between Soroptimist International of Widnes, International of Liverpool, and Soroptimist International Crosby for the Heart Health Project. Well done everyone. Members of SI Widnes are feeling very proud of this achievement.

The SIGBI Best Practice Awards are always a highlight of our conference, giving us the opportunity to celebrate the incredible impact Soroptimists make in their communities and beyond.

From identifying a need to taking action and changing lives, these projects showcase Soroptimists at their very best. This year, we invited entries demonstrating work towards our six objects, with a special focus on creating impact and being inspiring.

🧥 Got a coat that's no longer getting any use? 🧥
Donate your unwanted winter coats at Widnes Market any day, or visit us on 28th October to drop off your donations and help support local people across Halton this winter.
Halton & St Helens Voluntary and Community Action
This is the 5th year of the highly successful Halton Winter Coat Project.
Over the first 4 years the generosity at the people of Halton has meant the 5,000 coats have been redistributed to those in need and potentially saved many of these coats from landfill.
All good quality pre-loved coat donations are welcomed, with a particular push for men’s and children’s coats.

Your donations have resulted in almost 300 coats finding new homes today at the first Pick-a-Coat Day of 2026 at the Community Shop, Runcorn.

🧥 Pick a Coat This Winter! 🧥

No one should have to face the colder months without a warm coat.

As part of the Halton Winter Coat Project 2026, we're hosting a series of free Pick a Coat events across Halton, where local residents can choose a good-quality winter coat at no cost.

Whether you're looking for a coat for yourself or a family member, everyone is welcome.

📍 Events taking place in Runcorn and Widnes throughout October and November.

We're also still looking for donations of clean, good-quality winter coats and support from local volunteers, businesses and community groups.

There will be a pop up donation station at Widnes Market on 28th October 10am – 3pm
