Job Description:
We have a Play Worker (SEN) role based in either Runcorn or Widnes in our Saturday Short Breaks Service. The hours of work are 9.45 - 4pm (half hour lunch unpaid), 5.75 hours per Saturday for 50 weeks per year (no clubs 2 weeks of Christmas Holidays)
To be responsible for the one to one support and care, including all personal needs of children and young people (aged 4-18 years) with additional needs accessing the service. To enable full engagement in all activities. To support the Play Leader in the planning and delivery of the service and service activities and to support the Play Leader in ensuring the safety and well being of the children and young people attending the scheme.
To encourage and support children to participate in the activities and to respond to their needs.
To, on a one to one basis, support children with individual needs to access the service and to participate in service activities.
To ensure that they are fully aware of the individual needs (as indicated in the ‘care plan’) of children supported on a ‘one to one’ basis and to support the health and welfare and personal care needs of children.
Qualifications
Level 2 Qualification in childcare (or equivalent)
Experience working with children
Strong understanding of early childhood education principles
Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with children and parents
Ability to develop and implement care plans tailored to individual children's needs
Proficiency in English
