West Calder and Harburn Community Development Trust

West Calder and Harburn Community Development Trust We are a Community Development Trust for West Calder and Harburn set up as a company Limited by Guarantee with charitable status.

We were set up as a Community Development Trust (CDT) to raise funds and commission projects in the West Calder and Harburn area for the benefit of the local community. Membership is drawn from people living and working within the local area. The voluntary board of directors is elected by the members. The CDT works closely with, but is separate from the West Calder and Harburn Community Council. T

he main stimulus for setting up the CDT was community benefit funds becoming available from local wind farm developments. The CDT can act as an efficient and democratic conduit for channelling such funds into local community projects. However funds need not come exclusively from wind farms and other sources of funding can also be sourced by the CDT.

This wee cracker was having a rare old time sniffing and exploring, but we are frightened s/he has maybe escaped or someone is looking for them. This was just beyond the opening of Old School avenue on the A71 heading towards West Calder.

The Trust is delighted to say that it is taking operational and financial control of the community cafe and catering operation at The Community Centre/HUB from the beginning of April.

We are doing this to:

* Safeguard a cherished community service
* Save jobs
* Support the HUB in it's plans to keep it open

The CDT set up the project way back in 2018 and later delivered it in Partnership with the HUB before they took it on themselves two years ago. We are proud to be able to take it back on, so it remains in the community.

Keep an eye on our socials for details and information for our relaunch.
