The Calder Witch Hunt

The Calder Witch Hunt The Calder Witch Hunt is a community project supported by West Calder and Harburn Community Development Trust and West Lothian Museums Services.

We hope to discover more about accusations of witchcraft at Calder during the 17th century, build a local history resource, provide our community with opportunities to participate, and commemorate the lives of the people who were affected. We are busy building a website to sit at the centre of the project and will use it to share information about the people who were affected by witchcraft accusat

ions at Calder during the 1640s and the local places linked to their stories. The project will encompass artwork, photography, poetry, video, workshops, pop-up exhibitions, a play, and other events.

A first glimpse of the Calder Witch Hunt commemorative panel in Union Square West Calder! Good Calder Folk Not Witches.

Funded by the West Calder and Harburn Community Development Trust, designed by local artist Calum McCarra.
Not quite complete yet -back panels will make it easier to read, and there will be a short interpretation board.

The three sided panel recognises our local history with other sides commemorating the local anti-slavery movement and the cooperative society.
