Skolie burn Meadows SCIO Skolie burn meadows is a large area of land between Addiewell and Loganlea.

Our hope is to rejuvenate this area and make it into the wildlife haven it once was whilst making it accessible to all.

The trustees recently planted 100 trees. We are sad to say that 6 of them were vandalised yesterday & a plum tree which was planted 4 years ago was snapped in two & ripped out of the ground.

The trustees are volunteers & do not get paid for their time. We are trying to improve the environment & make the village a nicer place for everybody but when stuff like this happens it feels like we are sadly wasting our time and efforts.

Kids have been unfortunately seen doing this. They were also seen starting a fire at the back of houses in burnside terrace two nights ago which the fire brigade attended.

Parents need to ask their kids what they have been up to.

If the situation gets worse then the trustees will call it a day & leave the meadow to grow wild which would be a shame after all the hard work put in.

We are also looking for volunteers this Wednesday at 11am to help with tree planting preparation. Meeting at the storage container. Thanks in advance!

We are going to change the cattle to the west field for the next couple of weeks so will
be locking the gates tonight.

Access to both sides of the meadow can be gained via the bridges.

Due to the weather & the fact that cows are going back in lower field tomorrow the gates have been locked at present.

Grazing will move to second enclosure from Monday, gates will be locked
but remain open for weekend and bank holidays over Christmas

Just to let everyone know that compartment 1 of the meadows (bottom field) will be shut from this coming weekend for the cattle. They will then be moved onto the next field in a week or two 🐄

We are currently looking to for a new trustee or trustees to help with the running of the Skolie Burn Community Meadow and Woodland SCIO
SC049555.

We would be pleased to hear from anybody interested that lives in the Addiewell and Loganlea area.

In particular the person or persons should have an interest in conserving a flower rich protected
meadow and improving access for the community.

We would hope that the trustees would take part in some of the activities we undertake but as a
legal minimum they will be required to attend one meeting a year and approve/vote on the charities fund raising and expenditure from time to time.

We would be particularly keen to welcome people with relevant skills that can help advance the charities key purposes in enhancing the environment and educating others in environmental improvement, but any relevant skills would be of interest.
