Join us on Saturday 4th July, 11am–2pm for a fantastic day of family fun as we celebrate our Armed Forces community.

⭐ FREE ENTRY ⭐

Here's just some of what you can look forward to:

🎖️ Fusiliers weapon systems trailer, paintball range, climbing wall and Hang Tough Challenge
🚔 Meet Northumbria Police and see their vehicle
🥽 HADO Virtual Dodgeball with NUF
🥊 Boxing activities with FMBW
🎈 Inflatables from Double Deckers (small charge applies)
🍭 Slush, candy floss and refreshments from Howdelicious
🎟️ Tombola, lucky dip and raffle

There'll be plenty to see and do for all ages, so bring the whole family along and help us celebrate those who serve and have served.

A fun, friendly and inclusive sports session for children with SEND and their families.

We know that trying new activities can sometimes feel challenging, so we've created a safe, supportive space where everyone is welcome. Families take part together, activities are adapted to meet different needs, and the focus is always on having fun, building confidence and making new friends.

💻 New Digital Support at Family Gateway! 💻

We're excited to launch Digital Den and Digital Doorway, two new sessions designed to help our community get connected, build confidence and make the most of the online world.

📚 Digital Den – A friendly homework club for young people aged 6–16, with support, digital learning and a welcoming space to learn, create and achieve.

🌐 Digital Doorway – Free access to computers and the internet for adults who need help with emails, online services, job searches, training, shopping and more.

Whether you're looking for support with schoolwork, developing digital skills, or simply need access to technology, we're here to help.

Remember when our lovely David did the Great North Run not so long ago? Well he is back to it and is running a massive 70 miles from Carlisle to Newcastle Quayside with a few of his friends!!🏃‍♂️

David has chosen to raise money to support Howdon Youth Zone, our youth sessions that give young people aged 10-16 a safe space in the community.

It is a huge personal challenge for David, but one he has been working towards for some time now. We are extremely proud of him and the work he has put in!

At the end of Volunteers’ Week we want to say a huge THANK YOU to every single volunteer who supports Family Gateway 💙

From helping at activities and events, to supporting families, community projects and our hub, your time, kindness and dedication make such a big difference every day.

We truly couldn’t do what we do without you. Thank you for being part of our community and helping us create lasting change for local people.

How could we talk about Volunteers and not mention our Barefoot Bakers. 🩷 (Who hate having their photos taken)

People see the coffees, the cakes and the smiles- but what they don't always see is the hard work, care and dedication that happens behind the scenes every single day.

This amazing team keeps our Hub going. They make sure young people have something warm to eat, Veterans have somewhere welcoming to sit and chat, and staff, volunteers and visitors always feel looked after. They create a space that feels safe, friendly and full of kindness.

No matter how busy things get, they always show up with warmth, humour and care for others. They work so hard and give so much of themselves to our community, often without asking for recognition.

Barefoot Bakers run more than just a community cafe- it is a huge part of Family Gateway and that is because of the people behind it.

Thank you for every drink made, every meal served, every conversation had and every person you make feel welcome. We appreciate you more than words can say 💫
