⚠️ Very high fire risk ⚠️

Following the government's emergency alert this evening, there is a very high risk of wildfires nationwide.

Northumberland Scouts should not undertake any activity that could cause a fire. This includes the use of disposable BBQs, firepits, garden incinerators or fireworks.

With the current dry conditions, even a small flame can rapidly develop into a major wildfire, placing lives, homes, businesses and emergency responders at risk.

This restriction applies to all Scouting activities within Northumberland Scouts, including those at campsites, group premises, activity days and external venues.

Please ensure that planned activities are reviewed and changed if necessary.

Scouts in Whitley Bay are holding their annual booksale this week, with lots of great quality second‑hand books, including kids’ books and jigsaws 📚🧩

They're open:

12pm – 8.30pm (today, Thursday 9th & Friday 10th July)
10am – 4pm (Saturday 11th July)

Hardbacks & paperbacks £1, kids’ books 50p, jigsaws £1, unless individually priced.

Congratulations to Alnmouth Sea Scouts, who yesterday were named Best Young People’s Project at Northumberland County Council’s Love Northumberland Awards 2026! 🏆

The group was recognised for their environmental project, All In The Same Boat, delivered in partnership with What A Wonderful World ✨🌱

The group has taken an active role in caring for our local natural environment through beach cleans, coastal conservation activities, and learning about the work of CRAG on the River Coquet.

Well done 1st Alnmouth Sea Scout Group! 👏
