🚨 IMPORTANT EVENT - FUTURE FOCUS 🚨

We are proud to be supporting and attending this upcoming event from The Twisting Ducks Theatre Company which will focus on housing and support for people with learning disabilities when their family members are no longer able to facilitate their caring roles.

It is so important that we get as many parents and carers on board with these workshops to help shape the future of our children and young adults. Please join Sarah and the team of Twisting Ducks if you are able.

πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

We are looking for parents and carers of people with a learning disability and autistic people in Newcastle and North Tyneside to take part in our Future Focus project.

The Twisting Ducks Future Focus project will create a performance and film exploring how families prepare for the future. The project will focus on housing and support when family members are no longer in a person’s life, or become unable to carry out their caring role.

We are looking for parents and carers to take part in workshops to gather views on future planning and better understand - what are the barriers, what would help?

If you are interested in taking part, please come along to our informal coffee morning to find out more, with complimentary hot drinks and cake provided.

πŸ‘‰ Include Me TOO πŸ‘ˆ

Sharing this upcoming event (Wednesday Evening) for parents and carers from diverse SEND communities regarding the SEND reforms impact on Black, Asian and minoritised disabled children, young people, and their families.

πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡πŸ‘‡

Despite the growing evidence of racial disparity in SEND, particularly as far as being disproportionately impacted by inequality, barriers to support, exclusion, and lack of representation, Black, Asian and minoritised disabled children and young people are STILL being overlooked within conversations around SEND reform.

This is an interactive virtual event, aimed at ensuring the voices from racialised communities are being platformed, in conversations surrounding SEND. We strongly encourage SEND parents/carers, teachers, specialists, and allies to attend.

We aim to explore what can we do collectively to influence better futures for our Black, Asian and minoritised disabled children and young people.

Join us at this event:

The impact of SEND Reforms on Black, Asian and minoritised disabled children, young people, and their families.

Discussions will cover:

πŸ‘‰Do the SEND reforms risk disproportionately affecting Black, Asian and minoritised disabled children and young people?

πŸ‘‰ Black, Asian and minoritised disabled children and young people have faced inequality within the SEND system what needs to change

πŸ‘‰ Why it is important to ensure our voices are heard and views considered within the SEND Reforms Proposal.

πŸ‘‰How can we collectively address the barriers and challenges for our advocacy, inclusion, representation to protect the futures of our disabled children and young people.

We cannot risk Black, Asian and minoritised disabled children and young people and families to be further disadvantaged and left further behind.

Do join us and attend this important event as our intersectional experiences continue to be overlooked.

You can register a place for this event by registering on this link πŸ‘‡

Taking place on Wednesday 3rd June 2026, place online via Zoom
