Did you know that the 306th BG has a Computer game!!
"First Over Germany" is a turn-based World War II air combat sim developed by John R. Gray and published by Strategic Simulations, Inc. (SSI) in 1987. The game allows players to lead a formation of U.S. B-17 Flying Fortresses on daylight bombing raids into Nazi-occupied Europe. Players act as mission commanders, planning routes, altitudes, and target priorities on a strategic map, and then step through the raid as German fighters and flak batteries whittle away at their formation. The game emphasizes attrition, planning, and survival over arcade-style flying, capturing the brutal grind of sustained strategic bombing campaigns. "
It covers the first 25 Missions of the 306th Bomb Group as flown from Station 111, Thurleigh.
The cover B17 shows "Buttercup" not sure if the Nose Art is Artistic License.
Come and see us at 306th Bombardment Group Museum this Sunday, we are open from 10:00-16:00 with Free Entry.
