306th veteran Hugo Riva will celebrate his 106th birthday today June 15, in Florida. We all send our best wishes. Hugo served as Eng/TT gunner on the 367th crew of Joseph Hahn. He flew 10 missions from 17 March-17 April 1945 and left Thurleigh in October 1945. Some of those missions were aboard the ill-fated "Combined Operations". 306th BGHA secretary, Chuck Roskovich, will be visiting with Hugo tomorrow and relay our best to Hugo and be able to share photos from the visit.

Did you know that the 306th BG has a Computer game!!

"First Over Germany" is a turn-based World War II air combat sim developed by John R. Gray and published by Strategic Simulations, Inc. (SSI) in 1987. The game allows players to lead a formation of U.S. B-17 Flying Fortresses on daylight bombing raids into Nazi-occupied Europe. Players act as mission commanders, planning routes, altitudes, and target priorities on a strategic map, and then step through the raid as German fighters and flak batteries whittle away at their formation. The game emphasizes attrition, planning, and survival over arcade-style flying, capturing the brutal grind of sustained strategic bombing campaigns. "

It covers the first 25 Missions of the 306th Bomb Group as flown from Station 111, Thurleigh.

The cover B17 shows "Buttercup" not sure if the Nose Art is Artistic License.
