Our aim at Oakley Rural day centre is to provide a warm, friendly and safe environment, where clients can spend a fun day with a variety of activities.

04/06/2026

Over the last two weeks clients have been decorating wooden spoons, fans and ceramic lighthouses where a battery powered tea light can be placed in them. I think they look really good and the clients have enjoyed all the activities. They can sit, create and all have a good chat around the table.

Other activities included word searches, dominoes, puzzles, quizzes, colouring and triominoes.

Chair based exercise classes took place this week.

For lunch this week Angela cooked corned beef hash with carrotts and green beans with lemon meringue pie for dessert!

Things are looking up for the bank holiday weekend with some lovely weather forecast. Hope everyone really enjoys the upturn in temperatures.

This week clients finished decorating and planting up their pots, They could choose between Busy Lizzies, Pansies and Begonias. We have all enjoyed the process and everyone has a lovely plant and pot to take home.

Other activities included word searches, puzzles, quizzes, colouring and triominoes.

Chair based exercise classes took place this week.

For lunch this week Angela cooked pork chops with broccoli and swede with for mandarin cheesecake for dessert!

Over the last two weeks clients have been painting a base coat on a terracotta flower pot and then creating their own designs. Next week we will be planting a flower in them. I think there has been some lovely designs using a mixture of paints, vinyl and sharpie pens.

Other activities included word searches, puzzles, quizzes, colouring and triominoes. We also brought out some old objects for people to guess what they were including a nasal do**he and sock darning tool.

Chair based exercise classes took place this week.

For lunch this week Angela cooked cottage pie with cauliflower and peas with trifle for dessert!

This week some clients carried on making cards. Other clients started painting on canvas with a beautiful country scene created. Other clients started painting small boxes.Other activities were bingo, word searches, sudoku, crosswords, connect 4, triominos and jigsaw puzzles.

On Tuesday Kempston Hammers Community Choir sang for us. The clients and staff really enjoyed it! Thanks for their continued support.

This week for lunch Angela cooked chicken pie with mashed potatoes,cauliflower and peas with mixed fruit, meringue and cream for dessert!

Well it looks like we might be in for some warmth this weekend and chance to enjoy the garden.

This week clients made Birthday Cards. There were some lovely designs and it is always one of the favourite activities we do.

Other activities were bingo, word searches, sudoku, crosswords, connect 4, triominos and jigsaw puzzles.

Chair based activities have been taking place this week.

This week for lunch Angela cooked corned beef hash with green beans and carrots with lemon sponge and custard for dessert.

We had a game week for the clients which they have really enjoyed. Games have include Pool, Bar Billiards, Table Football, Bagatelle, Buckaroo, Snakes and Ladders, Scrabble and Darts.

Other activities have included Triominoes, Word Searches, Sudoku and colouring.

For lunch Angela cooked Roast Chicken with all the trimmings including broccoli and cauliflower cheese with trifle for dessert.

Over the last 2 weeks clients have been painting wooden Easter displays, either Bunny or Chick themed. They have really enjoyed the process and there are some lovely displays.

Other activities were bingo, word searches, sudoku, crosswords, connect 4, triominos, jigsaw puzzles and dominoes.

Chair based activities have been taking place this week.

This week for lunch Angela cottage pie, cabbage and broccoli with apple crumble and custard for dessert.

We have been continuing with our odds and sods where clients can choose any leftover crafts to do from the previous months. These include decorating bird feeders and making and painting models

Other activities were bingo, word searches, sudoku, crosswords, connect 4, triominos and dominoes.

Chair based activities have been taking place this week which the clients really enjoy.

Many thanks to all at Kempston Hammers Community Choir who entertained us on Wednesday afternoon. The clients really look forward to them coming and have a good singalong.

This week for lunch Jackie cooked sausages with mash, carrots and peas with Vienetta ice cream for dessert.

Over the last couple of weeks we have had our odds and sods week where clients can choose any leftover crafts to do from the previous months. These include decorating bird feeders and making and painting models

Other activities were bingo, word searches, sudoku, crosswords, connect 4, triominos and dominoes.

Chair based activities have been taking place and we also played throwing a beach ball into a basket ball hoop which was fun.

This week for lunch Jackie cooked faggots with mash, carrots and peas with Mandarin cheesecake with cream for dessert.

Over the last two weeks we have been celebrating Chinese New Year. Clients have been making Chinese lanterns from card and coloured acetate. We also coloured Chinese style window decorations. Some of our clients also finished decorationg their wooden butterfly ornaments.

Other activities were word searches, crosswords, colouring, using water colour pencils, connect 4, triominos and bingo.

For lunch Angela cooked sweet and sour sauce, rice and prawn crackers with apple strudel and custard for dessert.
