We asked our community: what is ITP, and how do you manage it? Here's what you told us.

If you're living with ITP, what's one thing that's genuinely helped you manage day to day? Tell us in the comments.

Save the date: Saturday 19 September, St Andrew's Church, Cheadle.

The Amaretti Chamber Orchestra are holding a charity concert in memory of a much loved father who lived with ITP, and they've chosen us as their charity partner this year. Hannah, the concert's violin soloist, will be performing The Lark Ascending by Vaughan Williams.

100% of bucket donations, refreshments and raffle income on the night go to ITPSA, plus a share of ticket profits.

If you're near Stockport, tickets and details are on the poster, and every share helps spread the word for a condition most people have never heard of.

"Ten years ago, I couldn't imagine what the future would look like."

Jamie was diagnosed with ITP in Seoul in 2015, in the middle of building a new life and career abroad with his young family. What followed was years of blood tests, biopsies and uncertainty, but also two more international postings, two children growing up, and a career that kept moving forward.

His platelet count never returned to normal. He built a full life around it anyway.

What actually is ITP?

In simple terms - your immune system mistakes your platelets for something harmful, and starts clearing them out faster than your bone marrow can replace them. That's what causes the low count.

That's how Christian describes his ITP journey: years of trying different treatments (steroids, IVIg, mycophenolate, rituximab) with little lasting effect, before finding real stability on avatrombopag.

This story is a good reminder that there's rarely a straight line with ITP treatment, and that it's OK if it takes time, and several attempts, to find what works for you.
